Thursday 15.7.2010 day 274 End of Galapagos tour Today we got up and had bfast with some of the other people on the trip and found out that a lot of them have got sick and they called in the doctor for one last night. We then booked our accommodation for Lima after that we got a taxi back to the secret garden were we put our washing in and organised a tour to the Otavalo markets the largest markets in Sth America. Wednesday 14.7.2010 day 273 Charles Darwin research station (9mths) We woke up a 5:00 and had bfast at 5:30 then got the boat across Puerta Ayora, on Santa Cruz Island were we meet our new guide who got us taxis to the Charles Darwin Research Station the problem was the taxi did not know where to go and the guide made all the guys get in the back of the taxi standing up and holding on. As the taxi got loses we then had less time at the Charles Darwin Research Station we were supposed to see land Iguanas and the giant Galapagos tortoise but we only saw the Galapagos tortoise. Tuesday 13.7.2010 day 272 Rabida Island We had to get up at 5:45 today to have bfst at 6:15 to visit Puerto Egas in the morning, we woke up and there were lots of other boat around and as we were having bfts we saw another boat already headed to the island. On the walk we saw finches, warblers, Galapagos more iguanas and sea turtles then we got to swim with the sea turtles I got to swim with about 4 and I was the only one with them each time. Monday 12.7.2010 day 271 Bartolome Island In the night the boat moved to a new location and in the morning we woke up and we were the only boat in this lagoon we had bfats and then did a visit to Chinese hat we saw sea lions and red crabs after that we did a deep dive in the lagoon and we got to swim with young sea lions they were so fun and playful. They came rought up to your face and wanted to go swimming with them. We also swam with two white tip sharks there were lots of other fish, It was a fantastic snorkel. Sunday 11.7.2010 day 270 Fly to Galapagos Baltra We got up at 5:30 had bfast and then meet the bus that took us to the airport for our Early flight to Baltra, in the Galapagos Islands. We meet our naturalist guide and saw seals, sea lions and pelicans then we transferred to the g1 our boat. We had a brief and then did lunch of sward fish then we had a life boat drill after that we went to Bachas beach and saw the red crabs, water iguanas, bobbies’ a flamingo and Kite. We then went for a snorkel and saw lots of fish and a ray. Then we went back to the board and had a shower then had our brief for the next day then had dinner. Saturday 10.7.2010 day 269 Join Galapagos Islands tour We had bfast and then got a taxi to the hotel Rio Amazonas where we joined the Galapagos Islands tour. We got to the hotel at about 10am which was check in time and found out the briefing meeting was not until 5:30 so we settled in to the hotel. We then went to the briefing meeting and got our Gap bags and t-shirts. After that we went for a walk around the streets near our hotel. It is so lively around this part of town with lots of bars and night clubs and there was a market and street performers do fire jiggering and unicycles. Friday 9.7.2010 day 268 Quito - Ecuador I got up early and had a shower and washed some cloths and sorted out my bag for the next few days. Then my friend got up and we went up to bfast. We are staying at the secret garden hostel and they do a wonderful bfast. We also booked in for the dinner it is more than we could pay down the street but it would be fun and we can meet some of the other guests this way. After bfast I went for a walk on my own around the streets of the old part of Quito it was fun to explore on my own. Thursday 8.7.2010 day 267 Fly from Cusco to Lima then Lima to Quito We had to get up at 8am to be at the airport for our 11am flight to Lima. The we had about a 5 hour wait in Lima, as quanta’s club member I should have got VIP club access so I showed the girl my card when I checked in and she asked did I need a Voucher I said usually the card is all I need. So we went through immigration and security and went to the VIP club and they say I need a Voucher oh course I cannot go and get one as I have now left the country and given them my tourist card. Wednesday 7.7.2010 day 266 Buss from Puno to Cusco We got up at 6:40am as we had an 8am bus to Cusco so we had to be at the bus station at 7:30. We got our tickets and payed our tax ($S1 each) then we had coffees and got on the bus it was a very nice bus and very comfortable and was a direct service without stops so well worth the extra that we paid for the ticket. We got in about 3 and got a taxi to the hostel then went and got a $S5 each lunch before going back to the hostel to do some jobs before we fly to Quito tomorrow. ... read more

Tuesday 6.7.2010 day 265 Bus from Cococabamana back to Puno Today we got to sleep in for the first time in over a week. So we got up and looked around for a good bfast place. The first one we went into we ordered and after a bit of a wait got juices and there was a European couple trying to change $B100 which is imposable. The waiter asked us if we had change but we did not. So he went out side 3 times looking for chain but could not find any. He then asked us again for chain and I said no.
