Tuesday 15.6.2010 day 244 Mexico to Lima Flight from hell I woke up this morning to a slight tremor. This is the first time I have felt an earth quake tremor. I was in Sydney when there was an Earth quake in Newcastle but I did not feel it even though they evacuated my building and I was in the 17th floor. So it was fun to feel this one nothing moved it was very slight. Well I am a Qantas club member so only fly Qantas and one world so I can use the VIP clubs and get the points. Monday 14.6.2010 day 243 Mexico City Mexico City is one of the world’s most densely populates cities. It once was a lake bed. It has a population of 24 million and it is 2,240 mts above sea level. Sunday 13.6.2010 day 242 Aztec pyramid Today we woke up and had a fantastic Mexican bfast and then went to the Templo Mayora 14th century Aztec pyramid and temple. Over 20,000 people were sacrificed here with up to 10,000 being sacrificed at a time. There is a wall of skulls. We also went to the Palacio National built by the Spanish after they over took the Aztec’s. We also went to the Catedral Metroplitana it is the biggest and oldest church in Latin America. It was started in 1525 and completed in 1813. It has the largest catholic diocese in the world. Around the church and Aztec temple there were lots of people dressed as Aztecs doing dancing and blessing people. ... read more

Saturday 12.6.2010 day 241 Staying in Fidel Castro room Today we checked out of our hotel and got a taxi to the airport then we flew from Cancun to Mexico City and got a taxi from the airport back to the hotel. It took a long time to get to the hotel as lots of the streets were closed off and there was a lot of ppl in the streets. As our room was not ready when we got there they upgraded us to a suite in fact the suite that Fidel Castro stayed in 1955. The good thing about today is more frequent flyer points the bad thing is spending most of the day travelling. After a bit of a rest we went out for dinner and had a look around. Friday 11.6.2010 day 240 Handmade Cigars Today we went to Spanish lessons again and then watched Mexico and Sth Africa go 1 all in the first match of the world cup. Then we got the free buss into the city of Playa del Carmen and had a look down the main street. We found a Cigar shop that made handmade cigars and got to see young ladies hand making the cigars. Thursday 10.6.2010 day 239 More Spanish lessons Today we did our second Spanish lesson. It was amazing how much we remembered from the first lesson. Tomorrow will be our last lesson before we go to Sth America so I hope that we can make it. There was a fireworks and light show at midnight in the resort next to us I do not know why. ... read more

Wednesday 9.6.2010 day 238 Spanish lessons Today we went to our first beginner Spanish lesson. We thought it would help us when we are in South America. Tuesday 8.6.2010 day 237 Taco beach party Today we had a chat with our personal Concierge and he gave us free cocktails. For lunch we went to the all you can eat Taco beach party with free drinks. Monday 7.6.2010 day 236 Woken up by our personal Concierge Today we were woken by the phone ringing at 8:40 it was our personal Concierge just wanting to know if we needed any help. We told him that we were trying to organize a trip to Belize so he looked into it and then came to our room in 20 mims with all the info. Although it was helpful we could have found the info ourselves and could have done with a bit more of a sleep in. Looks like there are not tours to Belize and the busses stop at the boarder then you need to get a new buss. We can hire a car but the car insurance we buy does not cover us in Belize so we are thinking of maybe hiring a ... read more

Sunday 6.6.2010 day 235 Welcome meeting and free beach party We woke up early to watch the Magello Moto GP. We read that Rossi had fallen off and was out for the next 3 or 4 mths. In the race Haydon fell off and Casey came 4 th so it was not the best result. After bfast we went to the welcome meeting were then gave us free coffees and pastries and told us about all the sited and what is on offer at the hotel. I won a prize for travelling the longest to the resort. They told us a story about people using their free kayaks hires and getting lost and ending up in Cuba were Fidel Castro finds then and give the resort back the Americans (who are not allowed to be there) ... read more
