Six days at sea without sight of land is nearly at an end. There has been plenty of entertainment in the evenings to keep most people entertained. There is usually at least one game show/trivia in the evening for those who haven't had enough of the three trivia sessions during the day. One such game show that Roisin and I played was based on the TV show Jeopardy. Each team is given a grid with subjects along the top and a value ($100, $200, $300 etc..) down the side. The quiz master will say 'Food and drink for $300'. The question is read out and each team write their answer in the appropriate space. One nominated team member then runs down to the front of the stage and, if the question is right, receives the equivalent ... read more

Oceans and Seas » Atlantic » North Atlantic April 14th 2017

Today we technically start on our way home. Only just having been reunited with our suitcases!! I started the day by wearing a clean t-shirt…because I could!! We breakfasted at 06:45. I said to Roisin that we needed to turn up early in order to get a seat. Roisin seems to think I only wanted to take this early opportunity to show other guests that I actually own more than one t-shirt!! By 07:15 the breakfast room was once again standing room only. We paid our $6 each and at mid-day took the shuttle to the ship. There were three other ships in port, the Eurodam a Holland-America cruise ship and the rather oversized Royal Caribbean ships, the Harmony of the Seas and the Independence of the Seas. There were guests staying at our hotel that ... read more

**SPOILER ALERT** For those of you who follow Roisin on Facebook, you may know how this day panned out. Here are how the events unfolded. Checked the Delta Airline delayed bags app: 7th April 2017 4:52am Bags set up for delivery. 'Have the baggage handlers been working through the night?' I thought. As most baggage handlers have difficulty working through the day, I very much doubted it (!) but…we have to remain positive. At 09:00 we received the same response from the Hotel – no deliveries! Our river cruise was not scheduled until 13:30 so we had plenty of time for some more exploring. Hailing the first sun trolley of the day, we took the bus along the beach where final preparations were being made for the music festival. Although the route was taking us along ... read more

Despite having registered our luggage with Delta and being assured it will make the next flight, and despite having been awake for almost 30 hours, I didn't get much sleep. This wasn't due to the stress of the events of yesterday but probably due to the fact my caffeine count had shot through the roof! At 08:45 I checked the delayed baggage tracker: 6th April 2017 05:22 bags expedited on DL2227 ATL-FLL. I've no idea what that meant but the next entry, 6th April 2017 06:57 bags on plane DL2227 ATL-FLL had to be a good sign. In a few hours normality will hopefully be resumed! The dining room of the Fort Lauderdale Airport and Cruise Terminal Inn is a snug affair. Situated on the 2nd floor, I counted 26 covers. There are seven stories in ... read more

Mrs H and I never turn our nose up at the chance of an adventure providing the adventure does not include bungee jumping, sky diving, scuba diving, pot holing or walking briskly uphill!! For this reason, most of our adventures usually involve a ship of some description. If we had known what was in store for us within the first twenty-four hours of setting off across the Atlantic we may have booked a different route altogether for this was an adventure that if given the choice, we would not have picked even though there was not a bungee rope or an aqualung in sight!! As you've probably guessed, we've set off on another cruise that will see us sail from Fort Lauderdale across the Atlantic calling at Ponta del Garda in the Azores, Lisbon, Bilbao, Le ... read more
