Cross-cultural delights
What a wonderful day! Australians, Americans, Japanese, a Gypsy, and various Italians. Maybe that's one of the biggest benefits of travelling - finding a common sense of delight with people from all over the world.

Real places
I'm sometimes brought up short by the realization that a place or people's name I've come to treat as just another word is really a place or group of people in the real world. Like Assisi, in St.-Francis-of; or Ephesians (& Ephesus), in Paul's-letter-to. What a great opportunity to touch that history.
