Today's hot air balloon ride over Tuscany was cancelled due to poor weather conditions so we slept in for 12 hours. It felt SO good. We woke up to a beautiful view of Siena from our balcony and sat and enjoyed our coffee and reflected on our trip. Once we got going and realizing it was Sunday, we decided to head over to the Duomo Cathedral. On our way there, we were treated to a parade honoring Siena's Palio horse races, which bring a buzz to this beautiful medieval city at least twice each year. Siena is divided into 17 fiercely competitive districts (the contrade), including the Eagles, Panthers, Dragons, and, rather touchingly, the Giraffes.
