Rock Art The rock art is just amazing! I particularly like this one - they probably didn't intend for their Sun god to look cute, but this looks like a cute emoji to me :D
How beautiful I love the detail and colour of this Tower, but before I saw this photo I pictured a tower built out of giant incense sticks :) This sort of imperial architecture never fails to blow my mind!
How beautiful Hi Ren, yes it was really awesome but not only the tower, the entire place was like living in a dream during the imperial era.
Thanks for your comment

The New Summer Palace I have only been there in Winter where Kunming Lake is frozen and some years it is a playground on ice and less cold years it can be scary as the ice cracks like a stock whip when you walk across it. Your pics show it as full of glorious colour in Summer. You have shown the New Summer Palace of the Qing Dynasty. For a sobering experience you should also visit the Old Summer Palace which was destroyed by the Europeans during the Opium Wars and left in ruins as a reminder of the calamity for the Chinese people.
The New Summer Palace Hi Dave, yes in winter the palace is a completely different place but in summer it acquires all its splendor showing it's beautiful colours of the temples, pavillions and nature. I also appreciate you know about the history and the two opium wars in the 19th century against the British army. Thanks for following my blog Dave I always appreciate your comment.

Baishucun Fishing Village I have spent most of my time inland in China and while the Yangtze and Yellow Rivers are lifebloods of their own there is nothing like the hive of activity of an ocean fishing village. On my next trip to China I must include some coastal villages so thanks for the gentle reminder Marcos.
Baishucun fishing village Thanks for checking in Dave!! China is one of the very few countries in which the society is still pure and this meant a lot for me. Best place to visit the fishing villages is with no doubt Fijian province.
Take care
The balance It's a lovely way you describe that connection you felt here... some countries are much better at finely balancing old traditions and modern societies than others. I don't think it's something that can be forced, or you end up with the old traditions dressed up at kitsch nostalgic remnants :)
The Grand Canyon I absolutely love this photo Marcos. It captures the amazing nuances of colour that are so unique and make a visit to Utah & Arisona so special in SW USA.
The Grand Canyon Hey Dave, I still cannot believe you really like that photo!! But I think, for my experience, the Copper Canyon in Mexico was better and also for the Taraumara tribe living in that area.
Really appreciate Dave thanks.
Orangutans Hey Dave, thanks for checking in. Was great but a long time has passed already.
Hope , right now, it is still as great as it was but I am going back soon to Asia and might have a chance to go back to the Sepilok center, again.
Thanks a lot Dave always appreciate your comments!!
Keep well

Amazing work How adorable are those orangutans? :) This rehabilitation centre is high on our list of places to visit and support... they do such amazing work. And sadly, there may come a time when these orangutans in the protected park are the only ones around :( I was also happy to see your photos of the macaques, I think those ones are the pig tailed macaques, and I would dearly love to see them too. Cheers, Ren
Amazing work Hello, nice to hear you again!!Yes truly brilliant work at the Kibili Sepilok Nature Reserve.
It has been years ago so I am just publishing it now and I am not updated circa the current situation there. But hope they will keep the work as good as possible in order to get to see as many orangutans as possible in the future.
I am going back to Asia on February 2018 and I might go back to Sepilok to see how the work is going.
Thanks for the comment RenAndrew and keep well

In Canada Wonderfully interesting blog Marcos...the work...the people you met...exploitative work practices. Our son lived in Vancouver for a while...until he could stand the frequent rain no more. It seems you know the rain he was referring to.
In Canada Hello Dave, thanks for that. Yes, the rain was too much to stand for such a long time. The fine days were really a few and certainly it is not like the weather in Australia.
Bye bye
Hello Sorry for the late reply. Anyway the name is Labulengsi and in chinese character is: 拉卜楞寺.
It is one of the most beautiful places I have visited in China and with my friends we have published more photos on the web if you wish to have a look.
Of all my blogs this one and mystical tana toraja are my favourite. Feel free to have a look to that blog as well and let me know what you think about it, I always appreciate that.

I was born on September 12 1983 in an Italian town called Rimini, located in the Emilia-Romagna province along the northern east coast of the Adriatic sea.
I lived there for a few years up to the age of 7 and I then moved with my family to my mother native town Brescia, where I grew up and spent my adolescence.
This idea about travelling around the world came up in 2006, a bit for the curiosity to see places that I watched on TV, when I was a child, and also with the goal to change lifestyle, to face new challenges, meeting and communicate with people of different cultures and learning t... full info
