Welcomed into their World Beautifully written blog Marcos. You are entering into their homes, their village life, sharing food, conversation, smiles and hospitality. Even helping to bathe their children. But most striking is you enter their World and they welcome you. I am sure it is because they can perceive you come with open heart. I have had tastes of such experiences in my travels in China but that they were only visits and you can live among them...rich rewards indeed.
Small towns and villages Why is it that the most amazing things seem to be up hill? This sounds like a marvelous part of China. We will take notes from your blog for our future travels. Love the architecture and the faces of the locals. We may need a couple of food photos.
Small towns and villages Well, uphill is always better, because from the top you have a different view of the world. I normally do not take photos of the food but from now on I will try Sir...
Thanks

Qingyan Ancient Town So you are teaching in a Guizhou school are you Marcos? If so, the friendliness of the people will become part of your soul. What are you teaching? When we were travelling China a lot we often talked of teaching English in China but for us it was only a dream. What a delight you have been able to live the dream. May your Mandarin prosper.
Qingyan Ancient Town Hello Dave, well I am studying Chinese in Guizhou University and I take some jobs when I find something.recently I worked a bit in a restaurant, because if you have experience in Italian restaurant you are more than welcome but the problem is the visa, it is hard to get a work visa but I like here and it is worth of trying hard. Thanks for the comment Dave always appreciate.
Keep well

Beautiful photo! How fabulous that you've started exploring you new surrounds! I had to look up 'tudou balls', they look delicious. What are your favourite dumplings? Looking forward to reading more about your adventures... safe travels :)
Beautiful photo! Hello Ren, yes here in Guizhou the food is delicious, tudouballs (potato), baozi, dumplings (vegetables and chicken) are my favourite, noodles, huntun (ravioli like dough filled in with minced meat) are also good but here the food is very spicy so I try to get used to it even though it is not easy. I like this province and I hope to have as many positive experiences as possible.
Thanks for commenting

Glad you are back Hey Dave, yes I am glad too, it was a long time that I was waiting for this moment.
This time, I want to focus on the ethnic minority groups and Guizhou is probably one of the best provinces to experience them.
Thanks for your comment Dave, keep well

Tourism and puppies Isn't it sad that anywhere there are tourists, shops filled with ugly cheap souvenirs magically appear and wreck the local streets? Of course if tourists didn't buy such crap, those shops would never exist. I love the imagery of the little puppy trying to be tough but instead looking comical with its tiny canine teeth :)
Tourism and puppies Hello, now we live in the consumism era and people are exploited to work hard to produce crap, useless staff and people that work hard to buy things.
Yeah the two little dogs were just remarkable and love them.
Thanks for your comment and keep well bye.
Guangxi Ah...the beauty of the river winding through a landscape of limestone karsts...wandering beyond the hustle and bustle with no tourists around. You describe this paradise well Marcos. We remember sitting in a peasant diner eating more dumplings than we have eaten in one sitting in our lives...the ambience of the place all consuming. We agree Guangxi is definitely a must to get lost in...to see.
Guanxi Hey Dave, yes I love to eat "Jiaozi" as they call them!! I just wanted to stay there forever but I had other commitments and I had to move on.
I fell in love with that place.
Big hug and keep well.

Magao Grottoes The only one of the major carved grottoes of China that I have not visited Marcos but the one I have to visit one day. Disappointing that photographs are forbidden. However, there are so many minor but spectacular carved grotto sites in Gansu that a trip to that provence is a must in my book.
Mogao grottoes Hey Dave, well Gansu is indeed a must if someone is planning to visit northwest China. I heard of other interesting caves around the province and if I have the chance to visit again Gansu I will definitely go. Now I am back studying Chinese in beautiful Guizhou and soon will visit some minority group around the province. Thanks for your comment Dave.
Keep well bye.
Crescent Moon Lake Bob of Home & Away visited Crescent Moon Lake and described it as a puddle. Your pics Marcos make it look deceptively small from above yet possibly larger and quite deep. One of the wonders of Gansu...that it exists at all is remarkable...and that makes it great.
Crescent Moon Lake Hey Dave, yeah it is pretty small and from the top it looks even smaller but beautiful even though quite congested with tourists everywhere.
Thanks for your comment and keep well bye..
Nature vs Tourism My first thought when I saw this photo was 'it's so sad that they've over-developed this stunning natural phenomenon' :( But I suppose we should be grateful there aren't a block of hotels surrounding it...yet! :)
Nature vs Tourism Hello Ren, you said that "not yet" but soon the missionaries of materialism and economic well being will arrive there as well.
Thanks for your great comment really appreciate!!
Take care
Ningxia On one of my China trips I entertained the thought of going to Ningxia Provence to see the XiXia ruins but didn't have time to get there as there is so much else to see. But now I know there are lots of rock carvings...yep...a definite reason to make the time to go see the delights of Ningxia. Thanks Marcos.
Ningxia Hi Dave, that is correct!!Ningxia is not much visited among the westerner travellers but I absolutely recommend a visit up here, is tremendous. I recently came back to China because I want to study the language and also some minorty groups in the southern part of the country. I am very excited to start this new experience and thanks for your comment Dave!!!
bye bye
I was born on September 12 1983 in an Italian town called Rimini, located in the Emilia-Romagna province along the northern east coast of the Adriatic sea.
I lived there for a few years up to the age of 7 and I then moved with my family to my mother native town Brescia, where I grew up and spent my adolescence.
This idea about travelling around the world came up in 2006, a bit for the curiosity to see places that I watched on TV, when I was a child, and also with the goal to change lifestyle, to face new challenges, meeting and communicate with people of different cultures and learning t... full info
