very english... This past Saturday the 12th was 'Trooping the Colour'. Trooping the Colour info I woke up early on Saturday morning to be there on the Mall by St. James' Park when the Royal Family rode by. I got some good pics (of the Queen, Prince Philip, their children & Prince William.. no Prince Harry, he probably woke up late=() which I will post shortly, but here is the footage by BBC of this past Saturday. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00sr3gl/Trooping_the_Colour_2010/... read more

Some people are just like that.. I always admired people who are able to maintain a subtle, quiet strength and confidence about them, even if the status quo is to toot your own horn because you can. Not the ‘he who shouts the loudest’ wins-type. This is how I hope to be some day. I’ve recently worked with the FS practice and my boss was a small man; maybe 5 foot 5 and slim. It’s likely that I weighed more, if not the same. Anyway, he’s always well-dressed and very articulate. Above the average. It’s mandatory to be polished and articulate in this business, so that says a lot. His education came as no surprise to me. I was more surprised at how down to earth he was, how very disarming and funny and almost endearing ... read more

What's for dinner? Mira had a great idea to try some exotic food for dinner one night. She stumbled upon this restaurant called Archipelago Can you imagine the type of menu they had? Our orders consisted of the following: Dan: Appetizer: Seafood / Main: Zebra Mira: Appetizer: Crocodile/ Main: Kangaroo / Dessert: Chocolate covered scorpion M: Appetizer: Ostrich / Main: Zebra Cool right? It's a cool restaurant to take visiting friends/dates etc. The food was good, although the scorpion was a RIPOFF in my opinion. And, as always, we have photos of our food. Enjoy.... read more

London Marathon 2010 - 25.04.2010 The Virgin London Marathon's path comes through my neighbourhood. I was lucky enough then to just walk a few feet out my flat and take some amazing pictures, AND spot Virgin's BIG CHEESE, Sir Richard Branson. Here are the photos. Enjoy. Hello Stranger! So it's been a while since I blogged. Probably even left some pictures from Egypt un-published. But I guess that makes it more interesting. It's been a whole 9 months+ since I moved to England; that means a baby has been made and born since I left Canada. That's a long time. What have I been up to? Well since Egypt, nothing much. Just saving up, and enjoying London really. I have a couple of friends coming to visit me in London so I'll be playing a tour-guide. Should be exciting. To prepare for that I took advantage of the sunny weekend we just had, and with my camera in tow, took some photos. Here they are. Enjoy!... read more

Aussies, Kiwis, and North Americans -- Oh My. The best holiday I've taken so far. Not because it was the most relaxing, or because it was the most posh, but rather because it was the most eventful and most adventurous. Surrounded by some of the friendliest folks I've ever met, I could not have picked a better lot of people to spend 15 days with. Two weeks spent in close quarters with the same people is not without its memorable moments; drama over drinks, people's personalities, and loveable laughter. Historically important places only once seen in history books and tv channels of discovery and learning were now among us; in our faces and completely tangible. In the beginning: After having been on cold holidays so far this year, I welcomed the 40+ degree heat and sunshine ... read more

I can almost picture my reaction, it might be my reaction to seeing the Mona Lisa in the Louvre x 1000. The Sphinx and the Pyramids. Everyone knows about the Sphinx and the Pyramids. Go to any museum in the world, there's BOUND to be an Egyptian exhibit of some sort; mummies, sarcophagi (is that the plural of sarcophagus?), hieroglyphs. I've seen two other pyramids before now; in Mexico in Chichen Itza, the Temple of Kukulkan, and the - Pyramid du Louvre. It's quite a surreal feeling to know that I will be seeing the most famous pyramids on earth, the pyramids of Giza, the oldest of the seven wonders of the ancient world - Wiki, along with the Sphinx, wiki. ... read more

to Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp If you want the background on the camp, please see link below: More info -=- I told myself I was going. I didn't care if Vicky didn't want to go. I'd go on the tour by myself. Without hesitation. Luckily, she wanted to go. So we went. I prepared myself for what would probably be a very emotional day. I wasn't even aware of this concentration camp because it was overshadowed by the larger ones like Auschwitz, Dachau, Bergen-Belsen and Treblinka. Still though, it was part of history -- and it was very emotional to have been there. One of my friends here from the US, told me that her grandfather was one of the troops who helped to liberate Sachsenhausen. I teared up from her even just telling me that. Learning ... read more

Gutentag - Jan 21-25 My good friend Vicky and I took advantage of a super affordable flight thru Ryanair.com and ended up in Berlin, Germany this past weekend. Unbelievably cold to say the least, she and I wore at least 3 layers of clothing and two pairs of socks each day, mind you we were outside for most of those days so it was the least we could do. We stayed in a hostel (but a really nice hostel) right beside Berlin's central train station (kind of like staying right beside Union Station) -- Berlin Hauptbahnhof (pronounce: Hout-bun-hof), I thought it was hoppedbanhof at first. LOL. We were walking distance to a few key landmarks: Brandenburg Gate & the Reichstag. I took over four hundred pictures, so I will have to write about each day separately ... read more

Zurich Airport, waiting In transit, LCY to ZRH, I have a 4 hour wait before ZRH to YYZ. At first I wonder, how can I possible occupy my time in Switzerland, at the airport of all places? I can't even say I've BEEN to Switzerland because the airport is a kind of limbo, really. But I can still buy souvenirs. =) I thought I had a lot of chocolate in my luggage - I forgot that I was in Switzerland, home of Lindt the most delicious chocolates ever. I resisted the temptation. Watching: I sit here in the lounge, people watching. Families with small children, a group of teens waiting for their next flight, a boys Ukrainian hockey team =P. And beside me, a family of stringed instruments sits; Papa Cello and daughter violin sit and ... read more
