hello again
Love the gelato flowers, very different. I can never resist an extra flavour! As always some great pics. Phil is out with his camera at the moment but nothing here as flash as what you are seeing. We are in Toc for our bowls week so I think he will mainly capture flowers from the motel garden and river views from the beach today. A few of the guys will be at the beach stoking up fires as I type, putting on enough camp ovens to feed roast and vegies to 60 people! It gets bigger every year. Not a bad life, sitting around with a glass of wine and watching a group of men cook for us all. Looking forward to following more of your adventures.

Where's Stephen?
Loved the colours of the plants in the garden at Cadenabbia - brilliant overlooking the lakeside. And, despite the dull day your photos are still remarkably clear. That mansion may also belong to Johnny Matthis, if you remember him. I've been in love with his music all my life. Cheers. Caroline

Spring flowers
Hi Caroline, The rhododenrons and the azaleas seem to do very well here in northern Italy as we have seen some absolutely beautiful examples of both ... in gardens and in pots. Cheers, Tracey.

Visiting Venice
Hi Tracey and Bernie, glad you are having a good time. It's almost like being there when I read your blogs. Love, Cheryl.

Glad you're enjoying our blogs
Hi Cheryl, It's good to hear that you are enjoying a European holiday vicariously via our blogs. It was very cold yesterday at Lake Como, but the forecast for today in Milan is very warm. Just like Victoria, the weather is all over the place!! Love, Tracey

Milan riots?
Were you aware of the riots in Milan 2 days ago which threatened to ruin the opening of the Milan Expo? I do hope there is no more trouble there to ruin this leg of your 'Grand Tour'. Stay safe and continue sharing those beautiful photos. Ciao. Caroline

All seems peaceful in Milan
Hi Caroline, When we were still in Verona we saw the news too about the anti-Expo demonstrations in Milan. With our trip to Lake Como yesterday we haven't been out and about yet in Milan, but it all seems peaceful. Since we are here we are actually planning to visit the Expo on Wednesday but will, of course, change our plans if we hear anything about continued unrest. Cheers, Tracey.

Steven.
Just a question - am I following Tracey & Bernie's adventures OR am I trapped in a Steven C-Gull saga??? Whatever - I'm enjoying the 'great escape'. Caroline

Sea Gulls
Hi Caroline, The sea gull photos are a bit of an in-joke between Bernie and his brother. Michael (Bernie's brother) has posted a few sea gull close encounters on Facebook so Bernie is responding in kind. Cheers, Tracey

Beautiful Morano glass.
That Morano blue glass sculpture is 'magnifico'. Is it really outside in a courtyard? And Tracey, how COULD YOU ~ wrap up your Morano vase before taking a photo & sharing?? You'll have to have a 'show & tell' after you get home. Aren't you lucky with the weather? And to see St Mark's Square completely dry - and not flooded - allows for great photos plus you're not forced to walk on raised wooden platforms. I've seen many photos showing crowds struggling across a flooded St Mark's Square. Not a pretty sight. Thanks. Caroline

Glass Sculpture
Hi Caroline, Yes the sculpture is outside which surprised me too. Maybe they have spare shards to replace them when they get broken? The vase was wrapped up very securely in the shop and I'm not game to open it now until we get it safely home. We were very lucky to have beautiful weather in Venice. Cheers, Tracey.

hard to resist
Looks like an excellent side trip, am rather partial to Murano glass and have a couple of vintage pieces so I think I would find it very difficult to resist a purchase. Looking forward to seeing a photo of the purchase down the track if you have one.

Sunset on the Grand Canal

love the canal images
Lovely pics, I especially like the water and boat images, very colourful and atmospheric. You may have scored a shot of Tom and Ron, certainly looks like both of them (well Tom from the back). Mingling with the rich and famous. I'm packed to go to Toc tomorrow, hardly compares with your current experiences! Vivid photos are starting to flow on Facebook. I can hardly believe it has been almost twelve months since we were enjoying the light show. Keep the photos coming, it is great to see what you are up to.

Dancing in the Piazza

enjoying your blog and pics
As always your blog takes me along for the journey and the pics are brilliant, you both have such a good eye for an image. Love the colour of the interiors too. Takes me back to our own visit there years ago though of course our photos don't compare. Hooray for digital cameras when you can discard the ones that don't work for you immediately!

Leaning tower.
More gorgeous photos. Thanks Bernie. BUT where is the one of you [or was is Tracey] 'supporting' the Leaning Tower??? I've got one of me 'kissing' the Sphinx in Cairo. Now how utterly 'gauche' [or grossly disrespectful] is that? But I was very young then - back in the nineties! I'm so looking forward to doing the "Grand Tour" myself one day - following in your footsteps. Thanks for all the excellent tips.

Great pics.
Absolutely loving your pic gallery and commentary. I was in Rome in 1966 [my honeymoon] so your photos are a happy reminder of those early days in my life. Thanks Tracey & Bernie.

Nice to catch up on your blog again :)
One of my favourite books. Who would have guessed, a book about a bird !

A 'blessed' seagull !!
What a shame - a beautiful shot ruined by that darn bird !!??! Seriously 'tho, your panoramic shots are wonderful Bernie; you'll have to give me lessons when you get back. Keep up the great banter Tracey. What fabulous weather - how lucky are you both? Caroline
