Food Trail
Are you sure this holiday shouldn't be classified as a food and wine trail. I am jealous, the cheeses sounded delightful.Noting the bad weather on the ABC THIS MORNING CHEERS JUDY

Black Swans at Franklin

are you lone tourists?
Just wondering if you are encountering any other travellers along the way or do you have all these amazing places to yourselves! It's great to read about places in Tassie that I have not yet visited. Am thinking about taking a visiting aunt there for a short trip later in the year so you are giving me some ideas for the itinerary. Your photos are amazing as always. I particularly love the view of the Airwalk and the swans from this post. I am still laid up so it is great to have something to take my mind off my misery! Hope you are both keeping well and warm! love Janet

Not quite on our own
Hi Janet, we are not the only tourists down here in Tasmania, but there aren't too many others at this time of the year. Just hearing news of wild weather on the north-east coast of Tasmania; thank goodness we were over that side of Tas last week!! Sorry to hear that you are still battling to recover from the bug you picked up in Perth. Love, Tracey & Bernie

Melbourne Fog
Hi Tracey and Bernie, Our plane ended up being 3 hours late but we were rewarded with some extra hours in Alice Springs (as Qantas texted us about the delay) and magnificent scenes of very low lying cloud (fog) over the Melbourne basin as we descended into Tullamarine. The pilot apologized for our late departure due to tarmac congestion (3 planes) in Alice Springs! Love Robyn and Ian

Exhibit
I assumed the photo entitled 'relaxing on the Roma' was part of the exhibition.

Yellow Tailed Black

lucky meeting
How lucky to be able to get such a good photo of the black cockatoo! We saw some in Darwin but were not camera ready for them. We are both enjoying your photos so much. You both have a good eye. I am presuming that you are each contributing images to the blog of course! We loved your tree canopy photo so much, amazing patterns almost like coral! I was intrigued to read about the Wall project as I have not heard of this before. It is almost like a modern Bayeux Tapestry. Will be a lovely sight when completed. The few images on the website suggest that he is a quality wood sculptor. Stay warm!

Great photos
Hi Bernie and Tracey, we are very envious of your excellent photos, would just love to have these for camera club competitions. It seems you are having another great time, did you manage the trip on the Strahan railway? Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Thanks
Thanks Wade and Valerie for your compliments on our photos. Tasmania is so photogenic I don't know if it is possible to take a bad photo!! Cheers, Tracey & Bernie

Great panoramas
Hi Tracey and Bernie, thanks for the updates, lucky to have such wonderful 'Winter' weather - reflection photos are awesome! I was cringing at the photo of you climbing backwards down that rocky cliff [no way was it a pathway! What a misnomer.] My ankle too started throbbing with the idea of my attempting such a climb. But I have to say that I had no problems climbing up and down to the monasteries in Bhutan recently - my ankle was actually quite stable. But in saying that I have to admit to taking all the strapping required to ensure pain free walking. Have all my photos from Bhutan and Antarctica now in photo books; love to show them to you when you get back home. Call me?? 0468 606 709. Caroline

Still traveling to some amazing destinations!
Thanks Caroline. It sounds like you are busy traveling and photo booking. I only photo booked our Route 66 adventure from 2012 this year! I will be in touch about catching up to compare photo books.

Rainforest Canopy

Canopy
There's something special about the light over the Gordon River. You have caught it beautifully. And the canopies...this one of yours is a beauty. I got into taking shots of those in Tasmania too so I can vouch that your pic is an extra good one..

Rainforest Canopy

Thanks
Hi Dave, thank you for the compliment on my rainforest canopy photo. I was captivated by the separateness that the trees had maintained to create a lovely, lacey effect and decided to try to capture it in a photo. I was pretty pleased with the result considering that I was shooting in auto and put all of my trust in the camera!

???
Are you sure this is right? " to rainbow trout to create a new industry for what is known today as ocean trout."
23rd July 2014

The tour guide is always right
I expect it is a marketing thing to differentiate between genuine river-caught rainbow trout and the trout that is farmed in the brackish waters in Macquarie Harbour near the mouth of the Gordon River??

Enjoy
Informative as usual, keep trekking.

Big day!
Wonderful that you have done so much in those conditions. I have revisited our photos from 2000 on our visit there and the weather was a good deal warmer in Feb! The boardwalk looks very tricky! Our main problem with that area was encountering a snake there. We were so alarmed we jumped which flung the snake off the boardwalk! No idea whether it was a deadly one or just a grass snake, not being one to hang around and study snakes when I run into them! Your photos are stunning!

I'll take the ice over a snake any day!
Hi Janet, while the ice was quite treacherous I would much rather deal with that than a snake! I think you know how afraid I am of snakes? Love, Tracey

Tasmania
Glad you are having a great time on your journey through Tasmania and that the weather is perfect. You are right, the bird is a green rosella. We are in The Alice waiting for our plane to get out of the Melbourne fog to come up here and take us home. Love Robyn and Ian

Melbourne fog
Hi Robyn and Ian, I hope you are home now after the delay caused by fog in Melbourne? It can cause quite a few problems with air travel at this time of year!! Love, Tracey and Bernie.

Brings back memories
Weren't you lucky with the weather at Cradle Mountain. It could have been a blizzard at this time of year. Once I saw a timber mill on fire in the snow on the way to Cradle Mtn. I climbed it once, a long time ago (but couldn't do it now). It's still just as photogenic. Hope the weather keeps up for the rest of your stay and that you do get to see the AA.

Very lucky indeed!
Hi Joy, we cannot believe what fabulous weather we have been having in Tasmania in the winter!! We have been hearing about the fog in Melbourne so I think it may be nicer down here than in Victoria. Cheers, Tracey,

Away AGAIN!!
Hi Tracey & Bernie, Sydney looks AMAZING & Darling Harbour is sooooo central to most of the action. I had no idea you are now based in Sydney Tracey, or did I misunderstand your comment about being 'close to work'? I was in Bhutan for my birthday in April and ultra busy now sifting thru 2000 odd photos just to get several hundred for a photobook. Cheers. Caroline

Just visiting Sydney
Hi Caroline, We were just visiting Sydney and what I meant to convey was that we were near the Sydney branch of my office without specifically mentioning the name of my employer perhaps that's why it sounded misleading? It sounds like you are still fitting in plenty of travel which is great. The furthest we are going overseas this year is Tasmania!! A domestic holiday for a change. Cheers, Tracey.

MMM...INTERESTING
You saw sights of Vivid I did not see. That is interesting considering we caught a train to Circular Quay and walked to the Rocks to the tall ships then to the Oversea Terminal seeing building facades changing and evolving and other delights. Just shows there's so much to see it depends on what route you take. Of greater interest...68 pts to Riewoldt...that's got to be close to a record is it not? Your a Victorian do you know?
