Thursday 4 th April, OnslowOcean View Caravan ParkCost $39 pensioner discount per night Rated by us 8/10Mileage 16415 travelled 0No plans to do much of anything today but rest recharge and stay cool, the breeze is good but fierce. As a precaution and as we are leaving tomorrow we took down the awning for the night. Chatting to a couple from Brisbane in a huge 24ft van, they are living in it for five years so I suppose they need it, but boy it is big. He admitted to G that he knew he was overloaded but the missus would not leave anything, and worse his ESC (Electronic Stability Control) which is mandatory on vans over 10ft was not working, some people are idiots really and accident looking for a resting place, hopefully ... read more

Wednesday 3 rd April, OnslowOcean View Caravan ParkCost $39 pensioner discount per night Rated by us 8/10Mileage 16415 travelled 0Our camp site backs directly onto the ocean and the view and breeze are amazing. Unfortunately as we are now into the heavy industrial part of the WA coastline the water is a murky brown and the sand is now more like mud flats, you can see in the water the mud has silted up forming dangerous banks. A number of people are here with small fishing boats so it must be good out in the water, I noticed lots of them out late in the afternoon. Not much to see here but a good spot to rest up.We did find just very near to our camp site a beautiful war memorial made in the ... read more

Tuesday 2 nd April, OnslowOcean View Caravan ParkCost $39 pensioner discount per night Rated by us 8/10Mileage 16415 travelled 550Pack up camp was easy this morning, probably as we had the cool in which to do it, made a big difference, on the road by 7.30am.We left behind the green of the plantations and growing areas of Carnarvon and headed off into new ground, we have never been north of Exmouth so far.The terrain soon turned to scrub and spinifex with nothing in any direction and the road a dead straight line to the horizon, this is typical of Australia for me and one of the things I first noticed when I did my round Australia trip in 1991, long time ago. Past the turn off to Exmouth and we really are on ... read more

Sunday 31 st , CarnarvaonBig4 Plantation Caravan ParkCost $46.75 per night with membershipRated by us 8/10Mileage 15865 travelled 0Enjoying our slow starts to the day, with lots of shade on our site under some amazing ghost gums, we awake listening to the most beautiful birdsong. My friend Pat had asked me to take some photos of a couple of historical things to do with her family history so we set off to find them.First stop was Granny Glasgow's building, this lady was a midwife in the area in the 1800‘s and was very well known amongst the communities up here, they subsequently built and named a building after her. The building is now an early learning child care centre. It looks as if the original building has been added to bu... read more

Saturday 30 h March, CarnarvaonBig4 Plantation Caravan ParkCost $46.75 per night with membershipRated by us 8/10Mileage 15865 travelled 0Very quiet do nothing type of day today, gathering our thoughts and enjoying relaxing. We rediscovered the amazing coffee at the Waterfront Kiosk and sat on the terraced walls on the foreshore and watched the world go by. Having Tippy with us gets all manner of people talking to you and spoiling him with cuddles he is such a poser and laps it all up. Spoke with people from Qlds, Perth and Brisbane today. Stocked up on some food at the IGA it would seem the shortage of bottles of drinking water is also been felt up here. The shortages in Perth have been caused by the flooding on the Nullabor w... read more

Friday 29 h March, CarnarvaonBig4 Plantation Caravan ParkCost $46.75 per night with membershipRated by us 8/10Mileage 15865 travelled 132kmUp early this morning in an attempt to get packed up before it gets too hot. Looks like the flies don't go to bed they were worse than every this morning. The whole camp was on the move early most heading to Coral Bay and or Exmouth, both of which we are giving a wide birth this trip as they will be packed for school holidays. With only a short drive we arrived in Carnarvaon at 9.30am and were unable to get on the camp site. We headed down into the town centre as it is Good Friday we were surprised to find the coffee shop open, typical Asian owners they work every day t ... read more

Monday 25 th March, DenhamBlue Dolphin Caravan ParkCost $50 per nightRated by us 6/10Mileage 15524 travelled 0kmProbably the best nights sleep I can remember having in a long time over seven hours, woke refreshed and ready for a relaxing day. After a slow breakfast, the best kind, we sat and chatted about what we want to do whilst here and onwards. Relaxing comes pretty high on the agenda but I want to do the Dirk Hartog Island trip, we, missed it last time we were here as they only go when the boat is full. Had a bit of a panic as I could not find my purse, last I remember it was Northampton when I got the coffees, bugger. Set off for a stroll down the foreshore for coffee and a “watch the ... read more

Sunday 24 th March, DenhamBlue Dolphin Caravan ParkCost $50 per nightRated by us 6/10Mileage 15524 travelled 218KmNice slow start to the day getting on the road before the flies became too bad, they have been awful the last couple of days. The road to Denham is one we have travelled before but it was still interesting to see the dry land, the trees are struggling I think the rain has not happened here either.Made coffee this morning which was good we had it on the road minus flies yippee. Arrived in Denham early lunch time and impressed ourselves with setting up including our first attempt at putting out the floor mats, we had it all ready to go in less than half and hour we are definitely getting better.Sat pondering the use we had ... read more
