Only a mother... Oh my.. Matt is so right about that expression on Kyle's face in that photo.. It is so like the ones when he dresses in drag (he's done this more than a few times- The Dolly Parton costume and the maid photo do come to mind - without the mustachio)
Glad you picked on dad this time and not me.. It's nice to know that you are thinking about us.
Keep up the good work with the blog. You have a lot of followers.
Love you guys,
Stay safe,
MOM
nice thanks for putting gingerkids.org on your blog... maybe with all the publicity we can finally help put an end to gingervitis once and for all... are there gingers in Asia??? or did they vaccinate for that long ago? Love you!!!
Hah Kyle, I notice you only make that face when dressed as a maid or surrounded by little Asian children. The heebs appreciate the shout-out nonetheless.
Postcards Hi Kyle and Darren- my class received your latest postcard...they are having fun tracking your progress. They will love the pics from this blog! Treehouses....zip lines....oh my! Thanks for letting track your trek. Love you both....xxooJulie
Zip Lining and Lions Bashing Wow, that "zip-lining" sounds GREAT and I am sure you're enjoying the hell out of it. I have remained a BIG FAN of this blog throughout your adventures.......UP UNTIL THE LIONS BASHING STARTED, NOW THAT"S JUST WRONG! I think I can speak for my Dad and Uncle Bill when I say, we will see how the mighty Packers do without "Brenda Favre". Have a good one guys and as always stay safe!
On Behalf of the Noble Platipi... I accept your apology.
Personally I really would like to have heard more about you and Darrens Kayak excursions. Darren got that roll down yet?
getting comfortable You are clearly getting comfortable in your life as the traveler... or maybe you're just very comfortable in Laos... Though all your blog entries have been great, you show the true essence of Kyle in this one! I am sure all the gingers, jews, lion's fans, platypuses, Eddie Murphy and even your father are feeling the love right now.

Hey guys, you suck Hey guys just talked with your mom and she emailed your page to me. Man, I'm jealous. It would be great to see some the countries you have seen so far. Stephanie and I are getting married on October 10 and would and it would be great to see you then but I knew the journey you guys are on. What a great journey or what Chevy Chase stated " It's no longer and vacation it is a quest". Take care guys and I will be logging in to see where you have been.
Derek and Stephanie
The Buddha Pose Darren, where can I purchase one of those "Darren Buddha Statues"? I would love one for my desk!
Kyle, I get "neck beards" too. Must be in the genes!
You two seem to be having a great time and I hope good fortune continues to stay with you. Stay safe, have fun and keep blogging!

just stunned Fantastic blog -- you've given me the travel bug for sure. And to think, you haven't even left southeast Asia yet! I hope the Gibbon Experience turns out to be as mind-blowing as it sounds.
(And by the way, you're totally right about Frost and Dickinson.)
Glad to be Reading ... but not experiencing it! What a delight reading these. You guys have a gift of prose! However we, unlike perhaps Mike and Jeff, are enjoying trip vicariously through you two, talking about your adventure while eating at George's, cooking steaks on the grill on the deck, and preparing for summer at Legend.
Boogie on Garths! You guys rule. Travel safe and see you when you're back. By the way Kyle, don't ever try to get through TSA in the states with the beard and stache.
Dave and Judy
Miss you guys! Hilarious - one of my favorite posts yet!! (I especially like Darren's edit about your combative abilities (obviously)) I'm just sitting here in DC pulling an all-nighter to finish up a paper (clearly nothing new here) and I thought I would take a few moments to live vicariously through your adventures. Seriously unbelievable - I cannot wait to hear all the stories upon your return. Also, Lawless and I will be celebrating St.Pattys Day tomorrow and you will certainly be in our thoughts. Stay safe and happy travels! Miss you guys! xoxo Mel
wish I was there Hey guys! I am living vicariously through the two of you. Definately jealous:) Sounds like you both are having an amazing time... Jeff and I have loved reading about all your crazy adventures. Keep safe and love you both!
heheheeee All I can say is you truly have a gift Kyle in writing. And Darren I love it when you interject with your comments. I am sure that alot of us are living vicariously through you two. And for me, thats okay. I like my showers.
Be safe
Love you both
Looking good fellas Some good blogs so far dudes. To be honest, I love reading these the first thing when I get in the morning. Glad to hear that you have the same cheezy, touristy feeling of some of the local activities...it seems the Lonely Planet has now actually overpowered the places that were once unique, but hey, its at least better than the rituals of Cancun. Darren - stop studying and go find yourself an asian girl. Kyle - your looking good man. I just might have to take you up on the offer of heading to South America.
Great blog you two! I thoroughly enjoy receiving them. Darren, please say hi to Julie for me and enjoy the camel ride (hopefully it will be an improvement over your elephant experience)!
hott Poorly shaven with a molester stache and sweating profusely.... back here in the states you'd be a star on Cops! Thailand sounds amazing, but after your sneak preview I am really excited to hear how the Gibbon Experience goes!
how many el bees has Kyro dropped so far ... guess its hard to tell for sure with the red clay beard weighing you down... oh yeah, and where's my shout out ... I know all about Darren's shared love with Morris... oh we oh we oh
That girls has it down. Buy jewelry, give to beautiful girl, get married. Why is this so complicated for you guys?? :) LOVE all of the pictures..not just because of Tomb Raider either (even thought I want to be Angelina Jolie..hah) It sounds like life is amazing for you and I cannot wait to hear stories! Love you both and miss you more:)
That spider's makin me a little queasy...anyways, u should check out the elephant riding in chang mai and try and convince the guide to let u sit on the elephants head like they do-now thats impressive balance!
bracelets I read your bracelet conversation at breakfast at the Kingsgate - we all got a great chuckle out of it and expect to see you handing them out to your 15 girlfriends! I am sure they'll make a big impression on Condi - Go Darren!
Are you guys considering applying for the next season of the Amazing Race? Now that you've done your homework, I'd say you're ready to go.
Loved the image of Ta Prohm. It looks like a phenomenal site and I hope to visit it some day.
B.J. and I may be heading to Finland in early April, if you happen to be venturing to those parts, let us know.
Love,
Jess
Water Taxis are sick I'm thinking of buying one and hiring a neighborhood boy to take me around my condo association's pond. Your travels look incredible... whats the deal with skype man?
The gingie says hi.
I quit my cushy job in health care software in January of 2008 and hit the road with my younger brother Darren (the one on the left of the photo). We had plane tickets to South East Asia and not much of a plan beyond that. It turned into one of the best years of my life. And, as a result of this blog, I convinced many of my friends to leave their uninspiring jobs and travel as well!
I am now finishing medical school in the United States and starting residency shortly. Money is tight, becoming a MD has me pinned down, but I jump at every opportunity I can to get out on the road.... full info
