soooo proud of you! Hi Cousins,
so very proud of you both for taking advantage of such an amazing opportunity...maybe some day I will get the guts up to do a mini-trip around the world with my little ones....:)
please keep sending the blogs...I have learned so much already!
Love you both....promise to have fun BUT stay safe first and foremost...you are awesome men with lots of family who love you.
Kyle....Kaya sends hugs and kisses...you still are "the best" in her book!
What are you kissing??? Kateri wants to know what kind of skull are you almost kissing?
Very neat to read of your adventures. We may use your travels as part of our geography lessons for awhile.
Have fun.
Hi Darren, Kyle (and) Brian, Lorne (if you are reading),
So glad to read about your adventures! And, glad that your cab driver was aware of the illustrious state that is New Jersey;) New Jersey is internationally known for its home grown heroes (Springsteen, Bon Jovi, me...the list goes on and on).
Please take lots of pictures of an Buddhist art/architecture. (Little known fact: I minored in Art History with a focus on Buddhist art/architecture).
Stay safe, have fun, enjoy the journey!
Love,
Jess
Sweet! Bleet! with Duck Confit! and a PBR! Damn! You cosmopolitan crazy American bachelors, after that well satiating night what more is a head? (besides a goat!).. Wait till the "snake wine" in Vietnam. Go easy on it as it has long lasting side effects that could find you responsible for re-populating the world!
I am loving the reads. My recent memories and your fabulous journaling took me right back to all the sensate experiences of my trip. Be well you two! Wishing you kind blessings of oodles of adventures, curiosities and safety. Peace, Shannon Kennedy

Thanks for the update! Have fun with Brian and Uncle Lorne. You guys look like you're on the Amazing Race! I want to quit my job for a year and go away, but Greg said "NO! "Be Safe!
Enjoy and be safe So glad you made it safely. Have a wonderful time and I'll be sure to call your Mom often. In the meantime, have a great time and I will be checking your blog and making sure Uncle Bill reads it too!

Any guy who uses schadenfreude is a friend of mine. Looking forward to reading my way around the world, even if it's through the eyes of an enlightened tax accountant and his brother ;)
Germanized English--Great Grammar Boost Awesome blog and cool stories to date.
Simply for the love of anything German:
"Schadenfreude"
(Schaden means damage and Freude means joy. Germans are great at constructing sensible words. Their gender usage may at times make no sense, but the word often should.)
Have a great start to the trip.
Later Days,
Rick

I quit my cushy job in health care software in January of 2008 and hit the road with my younger brother Darren (the one on the left of the photo). We had plane tickets to South East Asia and not much of a plan beyond that. It turned into one of the best years of my life. And, as a result of this blog, I convinced many of my friends to leave their uninspiring jobs and travel as well!
I am now finishing medical school in the United States and starting residency shortly. Money is tight, becoming a MD has me pinned down, but I jump at every opportunity I can to get out on the road.... full info
