Trip to Loikaw-Samkar-Inthein-Inle Thank you for sharing your photos and blog for Inle Lake. We are travelling to Inle in December and we were wondering if you could give us any up to date information on travelling around the Lake. We were wondering if it is possible to travel from Samkar to Inthein, by boat, before heading up the lake to Nyaungshwe? Is Zawgi Inn in Nyaungshwe? If so, do you have any contact details?
Thanks
Marie and Tim
Samkar to Inthein to Inle Hi Marie and Tim - I don't see why you couldn't go from Samkar to Inthein to Inle. That being said, there isn't much in Samkar. I don't recall seeing any boats there looking to pick up tourists and take them across the lake. Don't know how your burmese is, but if you'd be able to communicate it to someone I'm sure they'd be able to arrange it.
And you can find Zawgi Inn on Trip Advisor (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g303662-d5963628-Reviews-Zawgi_Inn-Nyaungshwe_Shan_State.html) and from there you can book via Agoda ahead of time if you want. They were fantastic!
Enjoy and feel free to let me know if you have more questions!
the jealousy builds... It is taking all of my willpower not to jump on a plane and join you guys! I call dibs on the next adventure...is that allowed? :)
The blog is back! So happy this thing is alive. Puts a smile on my face. Happy trails to you and the travel squad bud. Miss you and mucho aloha from Sweden!
Ohhhh beautiful AK! Love your travel blog! Ryan just turned me on to it. Oh how I miss AK. I paddled 10 days in Glacier Bay one summer when I lived in Skagway. Living seasonally in AK allowed me to travel the world for many months at a time. Now back in WI working in administration I can only swing a couple weeks at a time. I need a new career. Ha. Oh well at least I get two weeks in Costa next month. You favorits?

career move forget about being a doctor. You should be an entertainer as you already look like someone famous (even if a religious figure) and you have the wit and personality to get people to listen to you.
How about a TV show called " Where in the World is Kyle Bernard"
There are still 150 plus countries to visit.
Good luck on your journey.
i'm sad its all over! i was hoping you guys would make it to honduras and see how we roll in central america! next time. good luck in the "real world".
Your Home! ALL I CAN SAY IS "WELCOME BACK TO REALITY" GLAD YOU HAD A WONDERFUL TIME AND CAME BACK SAFE AND SOUND. FOR ME AND YOUR BLOG, I WILL COME TO MISS IT. READING ABOUT ALL YOUR ADVENTURES WAS TRULY AMAZING! NOW THE REAL ADVENTURE BEGINS!
LOVE

So you want to get away from the heat?
Come back to Wisconsin or Minneapolis!!!! :) Duh!
Congrats on your first sky diving experience, Burton. Kyle and Eric's descriptions of skydiving were superb (I think Kyle has a book in the making!), but I'll pass on sky diving. For now... keep having fun!

I quit my cushy job in health care software in January of 2008 and hit the road with my younger brother Darren (the one on the left of the photo). We had plane tickets to South East Asia and not much of a plan beyond that. It turned into one of the best years of my life. And, as a result of this blog, I convinced many of my friends to leave their uninspiring jobs and travel as well!
I am now finishing medical school in the United States and starting residency shortly. Money is tight, becoming a MD has me pinned down, but I jump at every opportunity I can to get out on the road.... full info
