Today was our 3rd annual "side by side" riding day. We went to bed with it raining really hard but the weather said it would be fine for our trip today. We got up at 7:00, ate breakfast and headed to our staging spot on Beaver Reservoir Road. We were on the road at exactly 9:00. We forgot our jackets and gloves this year at home, but we did have long sleeves, long pants, and hoodies to help us stay warm in the morning. Tom used his sewer gloves to keep his hands warm...you gotta do what you gotta do. We had a very nice forest road to follow towards Blowout Pass. We decided to go through Summitville that we went through 2 years ago. It WAS cold up there and I thought about heading back, ... read more

Hello, Hello! We have wonderful wifi where we are at!!! I am sitting in my recliner with cool temps and my wonderful husband by my side! Tom and I got up this morning at 7:00 MST to go on our 2.9 mile hike around the lake at Lathrop State Park. I did not bring my camera so I did not take any pictures. Too bad, because as we were walking I saw what looked like blood all over the walkway. Tom thought is was just the color of the trail but I thought not. Sure enough, off the path was a deer half eaten! Aren't you glad I don't have a picture of that. Our thoughts were...what did that???!!! I don't think they have bears in the area, but don't know for sure. A guy rode ... read more

Well this is the 2nd time that I am typing this entry...very frustrating! Tom and I left Amarillo this morning at 8:45 and had an easy 5 hour drive through beautiful country on our way to Lathrop State Park. We love staying at this park every year. By the way Mom and Dad...your site is available! We are at site 32 again this year with its beautiful view of the Spanish Peaks. We plan to go to La Veta and Cuchara tomorrow...2 places we have never been. We are going to eat at a dog friendly restaurant and walk through the towns. They are at the base of the Spanish Peaks so it should be beautiful. There is no wifi at the office anymore so I am at the golf club house here in the park. ... read more

Well we are on our way to beautiful Colorado! Tom and I arose from bed at 6:30 am. We got things together and were leaving the house at 8:20 am. We had an easy, short drive to Amarillo, Tx. (I say it was short because after doing a 12 hour day from Birmingham, AL on Thursday...this trip was easy peasy!) I did not take any pictures today because I was not sure if this blog is going to work. I appreciate all of you that signed up to view it. I am so sorry that I had another blog for you to sign up to...the other one was making me crazy. On this one, not everyone in the world can view my blog. So if you are on the list, you should consider yourself very lucky ... read more
