postcard Hi Mike
Saw your postcard today and that reminded me to look at the blog. It sounds as though you are having a great time. I love the photos of Hong Kong. Linda :o)
Nice to get your phonecall this evening. Your news sounds exciting and mine sounds a bit on the domestic side. Did however have contact with Dom, yesterday I think and Jacquie today. Did the Chinese have any kind of fireworks like we have for Nov.5th.? They invented them I think. Saw a program about Susan Boyle this evening. She's an admirable woman with a nice voice. No more news. Nite nite.
Another train journey Another train journey Asia » China » Shanghai » Pudong

I can see how impressed you are by Chinese technology. They are very clever but we never hear about all this over here.Dad seems to have cheered up since he's now talking about what we'll do when you get home. Haven't spoken to Dom yet. I'm so busy - and tired. Can't write more as my hand has seized up - just the RA. Keep the blogs going.
Shanghai 16 & 17 You're seeing different sights to Jen and Sean. I wonder if they roughed it. Being me I wondered about toilets etc. but maybe real travelers don't bother about not getting a wash!! And I wondered about real Chinese food? We now have a smoke alarm fitted, courtesy of the social services - very neat one. It's in the middle of the hall. I was at drama when the man came and when the nurses came this morning I was asleep on the sofa. I was so tired. Dad seems better today except for his painful ribs and we send our love. Keep the news coming. mumX
re guangzhou After climbing those endless stairways on the London underground I've spent the day 'licking my wounds'. Old bones tend to ache. Dad went up to Epping again and got through quite a lot of things - he couldn't do that without the scooter and according to him the thing is great fun and as good as driving a car. Well that's because he's not 17 anymore!!! But he is weak. Keep the enjoyment going. We get quite a kick out of your enthusiasm . Oh and do take some pics of Shanghai. Love from us both

The Eye! Going into London is like climbing into a can of sardines - too many people. I had an appointment about my eye and the problem seems to be a blockage to the blood supply in Right eye. I'll get a report from the Consultant and then decide what to do. One option is do nothing but that's not to my taste at all. It is an option however and tests have been done which on balance showed that some treatment is better than none at all. £250 for the visit was worth it just to know that something can be done, probably a one off treatment and followups done nearer home.
All going well with you still? I gave dad a print out of your messages to while away a dull afternoon and he enjoyed them. Love from mum and dad xxx
Alice and Sheila here today. I have a swollen knee so we didn't go out to look at computers in Bluewater although dad did say he'd share his wheelchair with me if things got bad. Alice has taken links to your website which she doesn't seem to think is very good because I can't print out a list of your messages to dad and me which means they aren't always consecutive. You know the sort of thing - first comes day 10 followed by day 5. I'll be putting them in order when I get a minute spare. Tara might come over tomorrow. She and Kailash seem to do more traveling than dad and I ever did. But she's 15years younger than I am. Everybody's younger than I am even the dog. Specially the dog. Keep us up to date. Lots a luv mum and dadxxxx
on days 5 and 6 Been to the walled village with Chris and Tommy and up to the Peak by tram. But what's a bubba gump restaurant? Is it safe to go around with a typhoon in the offing? We all wondered how you would get your shoppig back and nobody thought of the post!!! Just watched a program about venomous snakes, spiders etc. Don't get bitten. It's a nasty sticky end, but if you do get bitten go to a hospital even if it looks like nothing more than two tiny puncture wounds. How long will you be in HK? We are so peagreen.

been on, seen these! Been trying to keep up with your whereabouts and have collected five days accounts as well as got the piccies. I wonder if it's easy to get access to internet cafes and that sort of thing. Dad up at St. Clare's today. He's so weak. But cheerful inspite of all his problems. He's really very brave. Take care. X
for day 5 With my mind on spiders....don't pick up things like scorpions, sometimes found in bananas. They can kill painfully in minutes. The Australian one is the famous 'red back on the toilet seat last night'' Dad had a fall today and I thought we'd use the new call button. So far so good. An hour and a half later an ambulance arrived. They got him off the floor and checked him out. No real damage but he's achey from the lying in one position for so long. Actually they came out from Colchester and in the end I wished I'd phoned Sheila for help. I went to Drama and discovered a few well known songs I didn't know at all so I'll have to practice. I've gone right off chocolate. Going to bed now as my side should be toasty and dad looks done in. He's seeing the doctor tomorrow, can't remember what for. Drunk did you say???
boo hoo! Another day beginning for you. And me....I'm just off to bed. We've felt a bit dull today - nobody visiting us. Alice gets home tomorrow, from Spain, so she might pop in to lighten our gloom. Keep enjoying yourself - and being careful. Oh yes, once you leave HK you might find it difficult to keep in touch so maybe confirm your present phone number for future texts. love from dad and me mumx
boo hoo! Following your blogs. Having probs with texting you because I don't think I've got your number properly. Nothing exciting going on here. Saw doctor today about my bad memory. She thinks it's not so bad...hm...Dad went up with me and he is managing OK. We both miss you and I'm telling Dad 'anything you can do I can do just as well' which is cheering him up enormously!!! Are you going to see the Cement Garden? I never did but Tara and Karen both said it was worth a visit. Dull kind of day here and poor Tyg is possedoff as no one has taken him for a walk or given him enough treats. What's a zinger burger? There used to be a wee café where mainly Chinese went and they did a small portion of fish and chips with tea and bread and butter quite cheaply. The jade market on Kowloon might turn up some cheapish jade at rock bottom prices, things like rings etc. Well off to cook some kind of zinger dinner for us two little old people. We do miss you. Nobody to do jobs for us boo hoo!
How about Stanley? Hi Rob. Having problems getting through to you, on facebook that is, but here's trying again. Dad and I are so curious about what you're seeing and wonder if you'll be taking a peek at 21 Ridge Court on Repulse Bay Road. How about the YMCA on Kowloon where I used to do a bit of teaching - and the jade Market. Can't remember it's name. How long ago is that for us two!! Hope you'll soon feel refreshed enough to enjoy this round the world trip. I'll keep trying. Love from dad and me mum x
Peagreen! That's what dad and I are, just peagreen with envy. He would love to see HK again and I wouldn't mind a week in a nice hotel - the Mandarin maybe! Piccies please. Good thing my memory isn't as bad as I think since I remembered your blog name. Latest good advice. Don't swim in the sea without nose plugs or you'll catch that dogs' disease - think it's toxocariasis (from the animal planet on late night telly.
Love mum and dad
