Inca ruins

Congratulations, World Traveler!
How fantastic that you made your dreams of South America come true! Your description of Machu Picchu emerging from the sunrise fog was magical! I had to go to the Sun Gate and back before the clouds lifted--you were really lucky! The sacred space under the Temple of the Sun in this photo was my favorite place in MP, but I didn't get a photo of it. Thanks so much for this! And you say you want to give up your life and explore. Well, it's much less expensive to do so if you can save up your money and then come down for a year or more, as I've done. You can do it!

Machu Picchu
You're welcome. Thanks for reminding me about this particular ruin. This is the problem I face for delaying writing up my bogs, I forget things. It really is tempting and I am sure one day I'll find a way to travel around like yourself.

Machu Picchu
Wonderful to read the joy in your words Alan. You have made it! Machu Picchu for sunrise, clouds lifting to reveal it's splendour. And walking that trail to the Inca bridge...always adds to the memory to add a bit of freak out! This pic is a must for the pool room...something to always transport you back to this truly magical place.

Machu Picchu
That's a good idea about the photo, although I am not fortunate enough to have a pool room :P For my photo album book I think it will be the cover photo :)

What a great tour!
How fabulous that your tour includes the Pisac and Ollantaytambo ruins, so that when you go to Machu Picchu, you'll be able to see it in the context of other Inca cities. I also love that they are helping the women of the small village to reprise traditional weaving and knitting--and good for you, for buying one of those great, warm hats--I love wearing mine to bed. And how great that you liked the Peruvian food--it's actually considered a great cuisine of the world. Congratulations on making it to South America!

Sounds like you are very stylish...the shades pull it all together. So many ruins so little time.

Ahhh...no better place
Definitely a photo for the pool room Alan. You could not look happier or more content in my reckoning. Your longing to discover the delights of Peru seem to be paying off. What fabulous history and landscapes. Olly is one of our favourite places. Looking forward to the next instalment and keep showing the joy.

Peru
I really did love every minute of my time in Peru. I remember reading your blog on Olly. It's a shame I couldn't have stayed there longer.

A country with so many soups and so little time. Amazing flavors and use of spices.

Return to Peru
Peru is one of our countries that we loved and long to return. So much to offer and the people are fabulous. Take care with the altitude. Dave decided to stop taking his meds and regretted it.

The World is a small place
Glad you were able to catch up with your acquaintance Lucy. Peru is rich in history. Thrilled we will get to relive our trip to Peru through your eyes. Always eager to read your blogs. Ah the aromas of Palomino Island-- we didn't go there but would have loved to see all those sea lions. Great stuff.

Should I be afraid?

Sea lion kisses
South America! So thrilled that you made it down here though I also loved your Belgium blogs. Lima--what a great introduction--you saw amazing sites, met great people and swam with sea lions. I see that this was back in May when I was still in Arequipa, Peru. I'm now in Bolivia, but I have the sad feeling you may be home by now. If not, let's meet up! I'll be here until December when they'll kick me out. I'm so glad you are realizing your dream, traveler!

South America
Thank you! I really couldn't believe I finally made it to South America, it's been a dream for a long time. I am well behind on the blogs and afraid I came back home around middle of June otherwise I would have loved to have met. Bolivia sounds fun, will keep an eye out for your blogs :)

Huaca Pucllana
What an amazing place. And the Limas civilisation, never heard of them, so I'm educated like every other day! Lima and swimming with sea lions. Fabulous intro to Peru. I've been waiting for these blogs Alan, so looking forward to where you head next.
