Good to see you on the road again!
We've always liked Toronto and don't think it gets enough attention. Looks like you had a well planned stop along the way. Eager to read more.

Excited
Fantastic to see you are on your way to Peru, Alan. The planning about to be reality! Great you could stop over in Toronto on the way (our son Simon lives there), and Niagara Falls with fireworks...fantastic. Impressed you did not winge the tour company did not collect you...bodes well for any curve balls you may meet in Peru. Curve balls are for catching and running with in my book!

Peru
I'm a bit behind on my blog writing. I've been back from South America for 2 months. I loved Peru by the way, can't wait to go back :D

A heart stopping journey
Up early and the plans still went sideways. Thank goodness you made it. I could feel your stress in your writing.

Stressed
Thanks! I get stressed just thinking about the story, even though it ended positive.

The Battle of Britain
To be at Dover Castle for the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain flyover...can't think of a better place. What a homecoming!

The Battle of Britain
It really was a perfect homecoming. Just a shame my zoom wasn't good enough to get close ups.

France
We loved our time in France and found the people very friendly. They do appreciate you attempting the language.

Antwerp
This is the one town we didn't get to in Belgium and now I need to go back.

Monumental Buildings

Antwerp
There is always something special in a stroll if you keep your eyes open. Love this streetscape Alan. Well spied.

Follow in your footsteps
We are busy planning a trip and may spend part of our time in Switzerland. We may have to follow in your footsteps and spend some time in Luxenborg.

Luxembourg
Yes, I think you'll both love Luxembourg. Will this be a new country to your list?

Couchsurfing
There is something rather special when you can travel to a country being entertained and shown the sites by a local who probably gets as much out of it as you. Looks like a rewarding visit to Luxembourg Alan, being the guest and doing just that.

Hosting
Absolutely! I have returned the favour and hosted Stefano for one night on a quick visit. Next time, I hope he stays longer so I can show him places of England that he's never even heard of! Couchsurfing is a good network, same we TravelBlog :)

I like that rule
As you informed us you must visit the same number of countries as your age or more. We are also just a few behind so we will take your advice and get busy. Wow, great photos. Sounds like you found a new friend and he really did a fantastic job showing you around.

The good rule
Glad to hear that you're both taking up the rule and look forward to reading your future travel blogs. Stefano did a great job looking after me and he also has a holiday apartment in the south of France so I hope to visit him there next year for some more travel adventures :)

Spoilt for Choice!
Macaroons and 200 different beers--good luck choosing! When I first looked at your map, I couldn't figure out what was in the middle of nowhere--ah, Waterloo. Best that that battle was out in the countryside! Such gorgeous architecture and so well maintained in Belgium--you've brought back great memories! Thanks.

Ghent
We really enjoyed our time in Ghent. Dave is a beer lover and this part of the world is grand. The foods are amazing. Your photos have done an excellent job capturing the ambience of this lovely town.

Photos
I'm glad you liked the photos and it sounds like you're both reliving fond memories of your time spent in Ghent.

Views from the belfry!
What can be better than climbing a belfry and taking out your map to orient yourself! Europe is brilliant for that; South America less so. Ghent and those medieval Belgium towns (Antwerp, too) are so picturesque! Looks as if you had a yummy time there. If you do return, and if St Bavos isn't being renovated, there a hugely famous (in art history circles) painting by the famous Jan van Eyck, the Ghent Altarpiece. Love your canal cruise through the city!

Jan Van Eyck
Glad you loved the canal cruise. My travel book told me of the famous Jan Van Eyck painting. It was very easy for myself to get over to Belgium from the UK so will make sure I visit again. Your South American blogs look really interesting :)
