In the middle of the ocean floor Welcome to my final Americana blog for 2011! I arrived in Hawaii on Tuesday night after a 5 hour flight from Los Angeles and even though it was relatively short I still was quite tired. After waiting around for my shuttle I eventually made it to my hotel around 10pm and the weather that greeted me was actually pretty nice – not too hot but not cold either. I had an early night and got up early Wednesday to do the pre-requisite Laundry duties (down to my last few items of unworn clothes) and after that headed to Denny’s conveniently located below my hotel for some breaky. It’s all runofthemill fastfood diner meals, but they had weird concoctions for bacon which seemed to be their food of choice. Bacon ... read more

Welcome to Hollyweirdland Wassup. I’m currently winding down to the end of my holidays and I am now in LA, which has been interesting so far. I arrived on Friday lunchtime after an early flight from San Francisco and little sleep (again). The shuttle bus ride to my hotel the Ramada Plaza in West Hollywood was interesting as I had a very talkative Movie Critic from Florida and a musician from Vermont who was in LA to record a ‘Americanised World Song’ at Capitol records who spoke with me the entire way about Los Angeles, movies, actors etc. The movie critic (I forget her name) has a show both in LA and Florida and was visiting LA for a press junket for an independent Ewen MacGregor film where they get a free screening of the film ... read more

The Sound of San Francisco Greetings and salutations from the Bay City Area. Upon arrival it was cold cold cold here. But the last 2 days have been glorious so - so far so good. After New York I've been most looking forward to my visit to San Fran and as yet it hasn't disappointed. It is very similar to Sydney e.g. city surrounded by Water, same weather at the moment (from what I've heard - it's averaging around 14-16 degrees at most a day here since I have arrived) and people have the same temperament as my beloved city I call home (sometimes pretty good, sometimes....not). After a 9 or so hour day of travelling from hotel to hotel from Vegas to San Fran on Monday with connecting flights via LAX, I arrived at my ... read more

What happens in Vegas....well...happens in Vegas Short blog. Yay. I've only really had one full day here and already I have to get ready for my next stop (San Fran). I feel like I'm on a constant move! but I'm enjoying it....still 2 weeks to go! I left NYC saturday afternoon after a late rise from my night out on the town and I had a great shuttle ride where I met a girl from Phoenix and another from LA who were chatty chatty and quite hilarious to talk to. One I may even meet up with in San Fran. Anyways I had a 5 hour flight with American Airlines to Vegas and I arrived here around 7pm. It took a while to get a shuttle from the airport to my hotel the Hilton Grand and ... read more

A city so nice I blogged it twice Right! Sick of me? you will be after this. I have had a jam packed couple of days here in NYC. No intro's; so let's get to it. So firstly, yesterday I went on the SATC tour at the behest of my eldest sister. It started from the Midtown end of Central Park and as I was one of the few people schlepping it solo, I was partnered with a girl that was also doing the tour alone. She happened to be from Frankfurt (15 mins outside of Idstein specifically!!!) where I had just came from. She was alone as her boyfriend was working in the city for the day and she wanted to look at a few things before they toured the city together for the weekend. ... read more

Concrete jungle where dreams are made of America; the land of the free and home of the brave let me in. Yes yes, that's right. Pauly is in the USofA... hooray! So from where we last left off, I left Frankfurt on Tuesday afternoon heading for New York via Reykjavik. The flights to NY where pretty quick considering (9 and a bit hours), and on both flights I had the entire row of seats where I was sat, all to myself. Weird thing about Icelandair though is that you have to pay for your food and for your headsets to watch the TV monitor in your chair. Considering you have paid for an international flight I would think normal practice would be that they would be free. BUT NO. Anyways on the plus side you are ... read more

Wie geht's dir? (how are you *peeps*?) I'm here in Germany now (just about to leave for the USA) and I've had a great couple of days here in Deutschland. I arrived on Friday afternoon to Frankfurt after schlepping it to Heathrow airport on the longest tube ride I've ever caught, ready for my friend Rachelle's wedding. As soon as I arrived we hopped in a car and headed to Idstein about 60 mins South of Frankfurt. It is one of the cutest towns I've ever been too- with traditional German architecture and buildings. Rachelle likened the place to a tiny toy town or a movie set. It's quite surreal being there. So first night there we went for dinner and then I helped set up the reception for the wedding on Saturday night. I had ... read more

London still rocks Well well. Day 4 kiddies and I am soon to leave London for Germany for my friend Rachelle's wedding. It's funny how you leave your heart in certain places and relive your life from the past....I lived here in London 9 years ago, visited again in 2007 and now back 4 years later in 2011. I literally grew up in London...I was 20 years old, very naive about the world and in my mind, after a year of trials and tribulations I became a grown up and somewhat 'international' and not just some Canberran kid who knew nothing about the world. Flash forward to 2011 and here I am again and this place still feels like home. I came here on Tuesday, very tired but still ready for some London fun. I slept ... read more

It has begun Welcome kiddies! my 2011 travelbloggin starts now! hooray (you say)! so this entry will be short cause I'm just off the plane and jetlagged. I left Sydney yesterday afternoon around 3pm and arrived at 4pm today (7am London time). It's all quite surreal that I'm travelling again as it's been 4 long years since my last trip outside Oz and I don't think it's sunk in yet. Sooooooo I flew Etihad to London via Abu Dhabi which was good but still arduous. Before I even sat down in my chair on the plane on the SYD-AUH leg, the fatheaded jerkoff sitting in front of me had reclined his chair to the max and kept it that way the entire flight. Etihad economy chairs aren't that large (see pic) so I had little space ... read more

Yep, Back in London Looks like I have made it back to England in one piece from Frankfurt and I have one more day until I return to Sydney. Time flies eh? Following on from my last blog I had one more day in Rome on Friday last week and I ended up going into the Colosseum on a tour which ended up being quite informative - I'm glad I did it. I also visited the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and lots of other places all by foot. It was a long day! I had to check out of the hotel at 11am and had up to 5pm before I needed to start making my way to the airport for my flight to Frankfurt (Hahn airport). Oh did I mention I got sunburnt every day I ... read more
