London still rocks
Well well. Day 4 kiddies and I am soon to leave London for Germany for my friend Rachelle's wedding. It's funny how you leave your heart in certain places and relive your life from the past....I lived here in London 9 years ago, visited again in 2007 and now back 4 years later in 2011. I literally grew up in London...I was 20 years old, very naive about the world and in my mind, after a year of trials and tribulations I became a grown up and somewhat 'international' and not just some Canberran kid who knew nothing about the world.
Flash forward to 2011 and here I am again and this place still feels like home. I came here on Tuesday, very tired but still ready for some London fun.
I slept most of Tuesday when I arrived (jetlag) and on Wednesday I met my old flatmate/ friend Andy for Lunch in Soho. It's rare that you find people that regardless of how long you haven't seen each other you pick up just where you left off and the chemistry is still there. But it was still there and I'm so grateful for the
friendship that we still have.
I went for a shop after lunch and bought some much needed items (Flare jeans, cheap shirts and accessories - see pics) and I realised how much of shopaholic I really am. Loooooooooove it. I was born to shop. Woot woo!!!
My sister Tania, her husband James and some of her close friends and I went to see Wicked at the Apollo Victoria and it was a fantastic show *Toss Toss*! if you haven't seen the show yet I highly recommend you do. The girl that played the Wicked Witch of the West/ Elphalba had the most beautiful voice, the show was very funny and it was very touching at the same time. Money well spent I say! the only downside was that the song 'Defying Gravity' was playing in my head well after the show had ended and on constant repeat!
Anyways cut to yesterday and Tania had the day off, so we went shopping in Shepherd's Bush for some clothes for Tomorrow's wedding ceremony and we did some touristy stuff before having a number of drinks in the evening in Soho for my arrival/ farewell from London. It was great
fun but I really wish I had planned my time here a lot better. I literally could have spent another week here but alas! onto Weddings and America from here.
So yes. I really do love London. There is a vibe here that is indescribable and only people that have been here knows what it is. YES people wear sweat pants in public here (ick!) YES too many people wear MC hammer pants (wot?!) and major YES to people that are rude and barge past you with no regards for your or their own safety; BUT it is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world and as I have lived and loved here, it will always have a special place in my heart. London I love you, you bitch....don't ever change and I will love you all the same.
Love to you all. Comment on this. Or Else! xx
