Visiting A Castle There is a castle that's up on a mountain, near the town Sandra lives in. Today we went there. I had never been to a "Real" Castle before. I dont think the Castle at Magic Kingdom in Florida counts. Anyway, the cool thing was, on the way up the mountain to the castle, the drive is really weird. The road just loops and loops all the way up the hill, with sharp corners. To steep to do a straight up drive. I kept telling Sandra that I want her to take me back there with my skates so I can skate down it, because it was perfect for a fun skate. The castle was really old. Parts of it were taken out. Probably tumbled a little bit over the years. But, we got ... read more

The Zoo Yesterday, we experienced a "Zoo Day". We woke up in the morning, and took the train to Frankfurt. It wasn't a very long ride, only about 45 minutes. Sandra got her Starbucks. Good coffee is very important for her. The Frankfurt Zoo is one of the biggest, and best zoos in this area. We saw Lions, Tigers, Bears, Monkeys, Fish, Snakes, etc. It was some good, wholesome, quality, family entertainment. Here are some pictures of the day....... read more

Europe » Germany » Baden-Württemberg » Rust October 14th 2008

Day One On Sunday morning, we woke up early and got ready for a two day trip. Sandra’s Uncle had invited us to Rust for two days where there is an entertainment park. It was very similar to Disneyworld, except a little smaller and different, of course. It was about a two-hour drive from Sandra’s house to Rust, so a bit better than the three-day journey to Florida from Maine that I remember doing as a kid. No pit-stops, hotels, or screaming kids in the back of the van made the journey very relaxing. When we arrived, we could see a few of the rollercoaster’s in the distance. Sandra’s two cousins (Patrick and Michelle) were excited. They're a bit younger than Sandra and I so the trip was especially fun for them. The Hotel we were ... read more

Arrival - October 3rd The plane ride wasn’t so bad. It was only about 7-8 hours. Not nearly as bad as the trip to New Zealand. It is always amazing to me how I get stressed out about things, and then everything works out fine with no complications. That is exactly what happened in this case. Wes’s buddy brought me to the airport, helped me get my tickets, I got on the plane fine, got there fine, got through customs fine, and met up with Sandra with no problems. It was so good to see her. We have been apart for 3 months, so it was great to reunite. The only slight incident was a mistake on Sandra’s part. I think she was a little too excited, because she pulled a Kramer (Seinfeld Reference) and forgot ... read more

September 19th - 13 Days To Go For the past two months, I have been working at Haffords Saloon in Waterville, Maine. Sandra had come to the United States for three months, and came to the end of her tourist allowance on July 6th, so I have been saving up and preparing to go see her in Germany. It has been hard for us to be apart from each other for so long, but it will all be better soon, because I have only thirteen days left before I finally fly to Frankfurt where she (hopefully) will be awaiting my arrival. Although I am only allowed a total of three months stay in the European Union, I'm sure that we will make the best of our time. She has already planned some side trips for us ... read more

Boothbay Harbor This past weekend was quite exciting. My cousin Christina got married in Boothbay Harbor Maine, so there was a gathering for the weekend, where I got to see my family and spend time with them. It was very nice. We arrived in the afternoon on Thursday, and checked into our hotel, which was a very nice hotel. It was very old, and was (what I hear) one of the oldest log cabins in Maine. Most of our family was staying there with us, in different room’s right down the hall. A few of the pictures are from there, playing guitar, etc. Cabbage Island Everyone met up at the docks in the afternoon, and we took a boat to Cabbage Island for a Lobster Bake. It was a very small island, but had a playing ... read more

Back In Maine I have been back in Maine since February 17th. I don’t know why I haven't written much since coming home, I guess I am just lazy. Things have been going alright. Sandra arrived in Boston on April 8th. It was so great to see her. We were only apart for 7 weeks, but it felt like years. Since she was been here, we have had much fun together. I have showed her the Maine Coast, Maine’s Largest City (Portland), and last weekend we went up to Quebec with my brother Josh and his Fiancé. I thought about Richard a lot while we were there. It would have been nice to have him there, considering about 95% of the people are French Speaking. Anyway, I will try to post more on my blog so ... read more

Februaury 19th I am home now. It's hard to deal with, because I had such a good time in New Zealand, and made many good friends. Leaving everything behind and getting back to my regular life is going to be a task. Over the course of a year I have had a lot of fun, and now I am left only with fond memories of the good times I've had, and time spent with my good friends. Traveling home was stressful. The plane rides felt never ending, and to top it all off, one of my bags was left at LAX. I don’t like it when things do not go as planned. But I guess that's just part of life. Nothing is perfect all the time. The last week in Wellington was sad, and it was ... read more

Oceania » New Zealand » North Island » Raglan January 16th 2008

January 16th Monday morning, I went to the rent-a-car company and rented a car for Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. Sandra and I went on a bit of a vacation, just to get away from Wellington for a few days. We started by driving North-West about 9 hours to Raglan. Raglan is said to be one of the best surfing destinations on this side of the world. It's a small town with a population of just over two thousand, and we happened to be there in the heart of the summer, so it was very nice. When we arrived on Monday night, we were pretty tired from the long drive, but went out for a nice dinner. On Tuesday, we got up and went out for breakfast. We were both anxious to do some swimming, so we ... read more
