In the Taj Mahal September 19th - 13 Days To Go
For the past two months, I have been working at Haffords Saloon in Waterville, Maine. Sandra had come to the United States for three months, and came to the end of her tourist allowance on July 6th, so I have been saving up and preparing to go see her in Germany. It has been hard for us to be apart from each other for so long, but it will all be better soon, because I have only thirteen days left before I finally fly to Frankfurt where she (hopefully) will be awaiting my arrival. Although I am only allowed a total of three months stay in the European Union, I'm sure that we will make the best of our time. She has already planned some side trips for us to Rome, Amsterdam, and a weekend in Frankfurt. I am very anxious to see her and I will write more about the European experience once I am there.
September 28th - October 2nd
I spent five days in New Jersey with Wes and Matt before heading to Germany. We arrived on Sunday at Wes’s house in Paulsboro. On our previous visit to
Wes Matt And I
Hanging out in AC Jersey, Wes had mentioned that he would soon be done the remodeling on his house. He must have underestimated the work involved in rebuilding a house, because when we got there, it looked exactly as it did months before. But this was alright; we’re used to roughing it. Only thing that put a damper on the whole thing was that he just happened to have a problem with the hot water the day we arrived, so cold showers were unpleasantly necessary.
On Monday we went to Atlantic City for the day. The Atlantic City trip his become kind of a tradition for Matt Wes and me, over time. Somehow we always manage to end up there when we get together. It’s a peaceful getaway.
Matt entered a Texas Holdem Tournament. I didn’t play, due to my lack of luck on our previous Atlantic City Visit in which I lost over $100 on cash tables. He had some fun, but didn’t do as well as he did the last time we came down. He lost about $340...but played for about 12 hours, which I’m sure he loved.
Meanwhile, Wes and I spent the day walking around AC, eating
and eating and eating. I think we ate like 7 times while Matt was playing. The days following would be quite difficult in terms of how I felt, physically.
On Tuesday, we took a drive over to Philadelphia, and went street skating for about an hour. I had only been to Philly once before but, as I say about most American Cities, “I’m not impressed”. It was a good time none the less.
On Wednesday I said my goodbyes to Matt because he drove back to Maine, and Wes and I bumbed around Jersey doing nothing, basically. At this point I had had my fun and was concentrating mostly on getting to Germany. So I did the necessary double-checking of my bags, passport, cash, etc.
On Thursday I hung out with Wes in the morning waiting for his buddy "John John" to arrive at the Dominos to bring me to the airport. He picked me up at 1:30ish and it was smooth sailing from then on....
