It’s too fast. Too fast. I can’t control it. I know it won’t do any good to try and brake. It’s too fast. The blue Renault is 20 cm from me and I have no control over the speed!!!! Never again I’m gonna stay at the driver seat after loading a car on the train. The train was fast, it was dark, and all I wanted was to slow it down… Never again!!! Made it to Italy. I was driving as fast as I could - about 80 KMH. The truck’s drivers saw me only as a minor problem if they saw me, driving at least twice faster then I was. Some of them found the fact that a woman is driving this funny slow thing funny and kept trying to get my attention. Sometimes, a ... read more

Its time to leave Switzerland. besides the fact that my tourist permit had almost expired, I found out that I am becoming Swiss. I've started smiling and saying: "good morning" to people in the street . I DID!!. Yes, its time to move on. But first, let me start with a Hugh apology I leid to you, I have deceived you, I used my fame (I am still not over the googling my name thing yet) to mislead you. I am sorry. I am talking about the previous entry when i told you that people take their houses with them because its comfortable, easy, cheap etc... (not only that i am a famous writer now, I even write follow-ups... ) now listen, the fame thing (have you googled me yet?) is all over my head, I ... read more

This entry is mainly for the Israelis among you. I have been asked so many questions about caravans, camper vans, mobile homes, camping etc... that I think I should explain a little about it. For the non Israelis here, it might seem a little weird but let me tell you a secret: we don't have caravans. or camper vans. sssssssshhhhhhhh don't tell anyone.. but Camping for us is mostly when we go backpacking somewhere. Hardly happens in Israel. SO - non Israelis - you are excused from this entry, see you in the next one (but if you want to stay and learn something... you are more then welcome!!) Lets start with the obvious questions: what are campers, caravans, mobile homes etc all of those are houses with wheels. But there are differences between them: * ... read more

Yes, I've decided to start blogging. I am trying to explain myself 2 things: why didn't I do it before and why am I doing it now. I cant find the Answers. I have no idea. and I don't care (in a different life I would probably go mad over not knowing something but now _ I don't care...I think that its the fact that I don't trust my writing skills, never wanted to write / be a writer / publish my thoughts or ideas. Whenever I was reading other people's blogs or stories I found my self thinking: I wish I could do it, I wish I could write like them. and they are not famous writers. YET. they are normal people. O.k. not normal. they are people. and inspiration. I think that everything is ... read more

one morning few months ago, Saverio couldn't stop laughing. I have just started speaking Italian and got one verb wrong (one out of many)instead of saying - “I am afraid” I said “I am fear”. he just couldn't stop laughing saying: " you are Merav, you can't be fear" so I smiled at him. then he said: " o.k., i see what you are saying. you can be fear. but - normal people can't..." I have stayed in the farm for more then 2 months. at the beginning I thought i am going to be a farm boy, and speak Italian. When I met them I have realized that it's going to be a lot more - I have installed myself in a family. At the beginning I didn't understand why do they choose woofers - ... read more

almost a year ago, i have heard an American guy saying "i love Nairobi. it's the only place in Africa you can find Oprah's magazine..." it was the first time i understood the idea that people have different reasons to like places. i liked Nairobi because it had films, supermarkets and pavements.... I believe that people have different reasons to hate towns too. I hate Firenze. now, you will all stare at the e-mail and say: what??? is she crazy???? Firenze is great. well, it's beautiful. but it has a stick right up her ass. it's like she says: i knew i am beautiful, so i can be as hot as an oven, packed with tourists, have lousy food (o.k. theice cream id good but - at 40 Celsius and 95% humidity - who can even ... read more

my father's visit was a very emotional visit, and you know me - when it comes to emotions - you will get only the clod facts and boring truth... but come on people - use your imagination.... So - the main idea of the visit (i think) was to visit the town i was born in and mainly the 5 families that were my parents best friends-family-like-friends. Some of them are very old. when i left Italy i was about 4 years old and fluent in Italian. I have visited twice since then - when i was 11 and when I was 27, both of the times i didn't understand or say a word... the "very emotional" thing kicks in when we all know that it's the first time that we meet and i can understand ... read more

this is the day u have all been waiting for... I hate Italy, Italians and being here. let me tell u a little bit on where Italy is not that great place to be in: they hardly speak English. every time i go to the internet cafe i have to give my ID and they have to register me. for browsing the internet! It's an anti terrorism act!!!!! I also bought a sim card here. in Italy there are 3 cellular companies, and i am connected to vodafone. my phone is not functioning - i can receive calls only form my net and i can't receive sms from Orange in Israel. it took the company 50 days, 4 visits and 2 resets to explain me that it's their problem but there is nothing they can do. it's ... read more

some of you know and some of you didn't hear yet so ' let me tell you all the details. after 3 months in Israel (long long long months) I have decided to change my plans and give Europe a chance... the first thing I did was to look for a farm to wwoof in in Italy (wwoof = volunteering in organic farm in exchange for accommodation and food) so, I found a family in Tuscany. A family that hardly speaks English so i will force my self to speak Italian. in the last few days i'm here -I found out they do speak English but still, my Italian had improved... so - what do i do here? I work at the fields with Saverio - the family's father. we plant vegetables, installing an irrigation system ... read more
