You are completely right! Thanks Em and Abebe! You are 100% right and I found it meeting a young Norwegian student who is studying in Addis Ababa. I found out a lot of things about Ethiopia will having diner with him. For example, Addis is not at 400 meters altitude, but 2400...a slight difference...I was not really sure of all the info I received from my taxi driver, but for sure, they were less than accurate. Sorry again for not given proper info, that I simply did not have.
Ethiopia is Coptic Having grown up in Ethiopia but not been there since it was interesting to see the pictures. Ethiopia has a long history as a Coptic (Christian) country whose history predates Islam as a religion and could not be considered a muslim country.
.
Not a muslim country Ethiopia is a very, very, very Christian country. It is one of the few Coptic places on earth. Eritrea, a separate country, is Muslim, but Ethiopia definitely is not.
Hey Pierre,
Thankyou for your kind words to Ethiopia. But for your information Ethiopia is not a muslim country. Both in it's number and dominance,it is a christian country though it is a country which all of religions live together peacefully..
Have a great time
Are they sheep or goats?! I, too, loved naming capital cities on a map as a child. And I still love looking at maps today..
Thanks for an interesting, off-beat trip round Addis
Hi They had fighting before. Foreigners have never been targeted, so I would not change my plans. If things happen, as they did before, the "action" is only in Kathmandu and they are making sure all foreigners are safe. Enjoy your trip.
Hi Peter! I love your blogs. I always read them, because I like the sort of travels you make. Thanks for sharing. By the way,, I´m going with a friend (we are women of 50 years), in about ten days and I have read that the political situation is a bit confuse at the moment. What do you think about it? Thanks for your advice. Best regards and congrats again for your blog.
Great pictures Hi Peter,
You won't be bored in Uganda. The only time I have ever rafted was the Source of the Nile in '99: Grade Five, underpants-changing rapids.
Make a will first, and good luck!
The things you do, Peter You and Mari are made for each other........seeking and enjoying all those adventures!!! And nice to find a good bed while camping, huh? I like that pic of mari on her Banyan tree. Thanks for sharing , Peter.
Thanks for your comments Two more blogs coming for Nepal....I cannot manage to put it shorter due to the diversity. October should be quite interesting, with setting foot in two new countries for me...and diving season is finally back!
Right you are! Yes, I also found the Nepalese as kind, and very gentle souls. You've got really good shots too; a pity I can't seem to open some of the photos.
Where to next, peter?
Thanks Peter! I've been waiting for this entry :-) Not a bad backdrop for the golf course is it?! - and I don't mean the airport. I'll probably annoy you with some Nepal questions next year!!
This blog is just short of 10 years old. We have now move to South Africa.
Why South Africa? Simple, great wine, great food, great golf and even more amazing diving! I will for once continue to blog from time to time about home. After all, this is just my fourth continent after having grow up in Europe, lived in Asia for twenty years, and even spent a full year living the life of Buenos Aires.
Come to visit....there is so much to do here! ... full info
