Have you been to San Marino? That's one I've overlooked and will correct that coming this September. I still have a few in Eastern Europe to visit, and will do so when Linda is able to travel with me.
Hi Bob! Yes, did San Marino, the old city is a really cute place to visit. Even done Kosovo and Moldova! Writing this...on very slow internet from...Chuuk!
Bathsheba It doesn't look like you made it to the other side of the island. It is rugged and raw. Dave and I were married on the beach in Barbados. Thanks for the memories.
You are right! We kept it actually very relax, so relax that we didn't much! Sometimes it does feel good like this, even if it means we experience less! And not even a round of golf for me there too!
Happy New Year Bob! Indeed, as you say...everything I need....needs to change for people during their lives...I can't miss the party night life and enjoying waking up early to dive...both couldn't match!
Keep smiling throughout the year ahead! I am so sad to hear your news. Leslie would have had such a privileged life with you and I am sure that, in years to come, he will look back on his lost opportunities with regret. However, I wish you and yours joy at this festive time and hope for better things in the coming year.
Merry Christmas! We are fortunate enough to choose the life we want...we don't need to risk our life to cross an ocean for "maybe" a better life. So therefore...the life we have, is the life we have designed ourselves. Trust me, on our couple side, 2017 was amazing year. For teenagers, they are in the process to understand...or not...that they too...have to grow to lead their own life...own challenges...and own joys!
South Africa seems to agree with you! Another interesting blog with some great photos (eventually!).
Pleased to see Tiffany and Tanya enjoying life with you too. What happened to Leslie - haven't seen him mentioned for a while?
Merry Christmas! Leslie had become a heavy "gamer" 18 months ago...was not ok with me and he got aggressive. His Mum thought it was ok for him to keep playing...so he is now living with his Mum in Vietnam...home-schooling himself. We are still in contact, but let be honest...I have only partial news about him! Sad....but as his Mum and him seems to agree that gaming is more important than education, not a lot I can do!
Historic Charleston Charleston is the old south and has money. Since hurricane season is June 1st to November 1st and September is the busiest storm month you did not manage to avoid the possibility but looks like you had good weather. I'm not sure what towns you have visited in Florida but there are many educated people...in Nevada also.. Vegas is full of tourist and not a good town to judge. Anson's restaurant is one of our favorites. Next time stay at Zero Water Street....a Bed and Breakfast that is so lovely. MJ
Hi MJ! Thanks for the comment! I didn't speak about the residents of LV or Florida, but rather the type of tourists you meet in the streets of the main tourist places like the parks of Disney or beaches of Miami. Now I have to admit, my point is way too simplistic to reduce the kind of visitors to the way I did it to the entire State.
Thanks for the memories! In the last few years I have done some trips to these places and loved seeing your photos ... especially Antelope Canyon which I didn't get to .
Obviously it is getting very crowded and expensive in these beautiful places now ... I have just been to Alaska and was shocked at the cost of motels!
Truyl expensive indeed... I have to admit, I'm wondering how young backpackers can deal with some of the costs around this area....glad I'm slightly organize and a little preparation can lower some of the costs quite heavily!
This blog is just short of 10 years old. We have now move to South Africa.
Why South Africa? Simple, great wine, great food, great golf and even more amazing diving! I will for once continue to blog from time to time about home. After all, this is just my fourth continent after having grow up in Europe, lived in Asia for twenty years, and even spent a full year living the life of Buenos Aires.
Come to visit....there is so much to do here! ... full info
