We were able to see the last 2 Cinque Terre towns today. Some are nicer then others because they are directly on the Mediterranean. It was nice to take the train to these villages. As you cannot drive to them. We have had a couple of really nice days here. Here are some images from today. We leave tomorrow for somewhere ? Lowell... read more

Well hello there ? The weather was great for our first day in the Cinque Terre. There are 5 towns in this group. Monterosso, Vernazza, Cornigila, Manarola and Riomaggiore. Today we visited 3. Tomorrow we will do the other 2. This was not high season. But you would not know that. The train runs through all 5 and they were loaded. Lots of Japanese tours. They move like an army. Unfortunately I have been the recipient of someone's bug ? so I'm only about 50%. But I have a pretty proficient nurse so who could complain. ? We only have about a week and a half left in Europe. It seems as though we have been here all summer and fall. Looking forward to Israel stay tuned Lowell ps BTW if my images in portrait look ... read more

Europe » Italy » Tuscany » Florence September 19th 2017

Well hello again, Yes we did make it to Florence but it was not easy. We drove to Lucca where we planed to leave our car and take the train. Couldn't find a parking spot and by the time we did we missed the train ? Next train 2 hours. Started to rain cats and dogs ? Finally on the train. Now it's time for high school to let out. They all came on the train ? Not enough seats. Train is now delayed, uff-da. Is this the train from h### ? ? So we get there, Florence that is. I forgot my camera but Gloria had her new iphone 7 so the images for today are from that. I think they are very nice. BTW. WE are now at the Cinque Terre on the Med ... read more

Europe » Italy » Tuscany » Pisa September 17th 2017

Today we went to Pisa and Lucca Italy, they are not to far apart. Pisa is mostly the Leaning Tower and the Doma. Almost everyone there was holding up the tower. It is so much the thing to do ? I would NOT do it. It looks silly. Tomorrow we will take the train to Firenze (Florence ) It is a day trip from here. I did not want to drive as it would be terrible to even park anywhere. I will try to get these pics out. Lowell... read more

Europe » Italy » Tuscany » San Quirico d'Orcia September 13th 2017

Hello from Tuscany, Today was our first day we were out and sought out villages and countryside. Tuscany has had a drought this summer so it looks quite dry. We visited 4 villages today San Quirico d' Orcia, Pienza, Montepulciano, and Montalcino. It's hard enough finding them and also pronouncing them ? We are staying in a small hotel for 3 nights while we try to escape with our lives driving. I thought Romanian's were the worst. Not anymore. After tomorrow we will move to the north of Tuscany for a few days then to the coast to see the Cinque a Terre (4 villages) Hope all is well with youall. Today I took about 125 photos. would you believe not one would upload ? I'm really sorry. And frustrated maybe tomorrow. Chow Lowell... read more

Europe » Italy » Veneto September 9th 2017

Hello everyone, The internet has not improved. A half an hour to up load 8 pictures. And they are a little smaller then normal ? Today was to be cloudy and rain. We went out anyway and no rain. Cloudy days can make good photos. Tomorrow we rest our tired legs and pack up to travel south to Lago di Garda. The largest lake in Italy. We may stay a night, we may stay longer if we lose it. Our travel will take us down to Tuscany. For maybe two weeks. We will come north then to Milan where we drop off our lease car (because we cannot do that in Venice). We will rent another car from Milan to Venice. Spend 4 days there and fly out of there (Venice) to Tel Avive. 17 days ... read more

Hello everyone. Today is our 3rd day in the Dolomites. For you who may not know what they are or where the are. They are Italy's alps. Straight north of Venice and on Austria's southern border. Fantastic limestone mountains that I have not seen anywhere else. Today we had a tough hike. We went up-up for 3 hours to a small mountain restaurant above tree line. It was very worth it. The views were so rewarding. We came down in 1 1/2 hours. Tonight and tomorrow we probably will pay for it with sore feet and legs. Steve and Janet Baird know what I mean. We'll here are some images from today. thanks for looking LOWELL... read more
