So I conjugated verbs for my Spanish class last night, within the context of "Jack and the Beanstalk." An interesting twist on the classic tale - little "Juanito" meets the giant, who, naturally having a Spanish accent, pronounces thusly: ¡Efi, Efai, Efo, Efum! And instead of smelling the blood of an Englishman (not many Englishmen named "Juanito" floating around, apparently), he smells the blood of (roughly translated) "a young man who is foolish but tasty." Wonder what the English would have to say about that. The clincher, however, is the ending - "so Juanito tried to escape from the giant, but the giant caught him and ate him up. In real life, the bigger one almost always wins!" Well - there go all my hopes and dreams, up in smoke!!
