We decided to book a guided tour as it didn’t rain for ages and therefore the sand was very soft on fraser island. We got picked up at 7.30 at the caravan park we were staying at. We set over to the island from river heads (a few km south of hervey bay). After 1 hour on the ferry we arrived on the largest sand island of the world. Our first stop after 30 min driving over sand tracks was central station. It used to be the main camping area on fraser but it is just for picking now. We did a nice rainforest walk along a creek. The water is so clear that it is actually hard to make out if there is actually water in the creek. From central station we crossed the island ... read more

We did one week of capsicum picking and that was enough for us. Our back was just too painful so we decided not to do it anymore. We got new work on Monday, mango picking. The work is easy but when you break the mangos off the tree there is a sap coming out which burns your skin. Some people react more to it than others. My skin was alright but Jonas ‘ was really bad (it was already getting better on the photos). So we weren’t too disappointed when we found out that there won’t be any work for the next week. The last week we worked for a painter. Definitely the best job we had here so far. Inside, long breaks, didn’t have to drive our own car and Daniel (the painter) was really ... read more

Time is passing very quick when you are having fun. So we were still in Arlie Beach at Halloween. As we still didn’t find a job we decided to have a last good party with sam and Fabian before me and jonas go somewhere else to work. As we wanted to have a really good Halloween we had to find costumes. We thought that shouldn’t be that hard but it was. We first checked Woolworth and Coles but everything was already sold out. So we went to Big W but the same story again. Target was already closed when we got there. We already thought we won’t manage to find something as we found a small shop with lots of Halloween stuff. Sam went as Cesar, Fabian as Cowboy, Jonas as Al Capone and me as ... read more

Ok finally heading south. We left cairns for ever on tuesday. First stop was mission beach. As the name says nice beaches. We found a lonely campsite a few kms north with just 10 sites but very nice. We had a lazy day at the beach on wednesday and went rafting on the tully river on thursday. Lots of fun. Crazy really.... jonas fell out all the time. It was really good. We spend most of the day rafting including a bbq and a beer afterwards. We all got wet as you can see on the photos and it really was scary and a bit painfull at some points but so much fun. We left mission beach on friday went to wallaman falls. The highest free flowing waterfalls in oz. Pretty impressive but it sadly not ... read more

back in civilisation.... ok we wanted to buy a van. not as easy as u think. basically go to every hostel in cairns and check the notice boards every day. and there are like 30 hostels here so quite a lot of work to do...we did that for 3 days (all we did) and then we found one. well one which wasnt really too expensive and not too shit. but we didnt find it at a notice board. jonas went into a cafe to ask for the way and that guy was thinking about selling his van but didnt actually decided so far but yeah in the end he sold it to us. it is an old van so it is not prefect but yeah quite cheap and we share it with 3 people. sam jonas ... read more
