Van
3 tall guys sleeping in there back in civilisation....
ok we wanted to buy a van. not as easy as u think. basically go to every hostel in cairns and check the notice boards every day. and there are like 30 hostels here so quite a lot of work to do...we did that for 3 days (all we did) and then we found one. well one which wasnt really too expensive and not too shit. but we didnt find it at a notice board. jonas went into a cafe to ask for the way and that guy was thinking about selling his van but didnt actually decided so far but yeah in the end he sold it to us. it is an old van so it is not prefect but yeah quite cheap and we share it with 3 people. sam jonas and me. after it took us another 2 days to buy the van coz we had to check the van at the mechanics and stuff. another 2 days to get insurance and registration and buy all the stuff we need for camping.
well we had one day break as we have been to the great barrier reef snorkeling. so we left the hostel
at 7.45 walked to the harbor (10 minutes walk) the boat left 8.30. it took us 1.45 hrs to get to the outer reef. we got wet suites and all the snorkel stuff we needed. you didnt need the wet suit as the water has 29 degree. i liked it more without anyway. it was amazing it was more colorful than the photos look like but it was absolutely beautiful. so many different kinds of fish and so many different colors. we stayed in the water for total a bit more than 2 hrs and had lunch in between. it was a nice day and we got it 20% cheaper as one guy from volleyball book it for me and he just took his commission off.
we started the roadtrip at saturday. we were heading north to cape tribulation but we stayed the first night in palm colve as we spend the morning to build the 3rd bed for the van. it was a nice place close to the beach and we payed just 4$ each to stay there so we could have showers and everything.
the next day we went to the cape. it was worth
it just for the way there. the road is next to the sea and u get amazing views. you have to cross daintree river with a ferry and after that you are in the middle of nowhere. really small streets up and down the hills through the rainforest. we stayed the night in nora beach (national park, 3 km from the cape) after we had a nice long swim and i went for a run with the guys. the water was so nice and stinger season didnt start yet well it will soon but other people told us it is ok and they were in when we arrived but as they left we were alone in the paradise really. the next day swimming again for like 2 hrs. the water is so nice and warm u just have to put suncream on as the sun is burning. we went to the "proper" cape but yeah the beach at nora was nicer as we were alone there.
oh and we saw a big python in the night and one other snake which was about a meter it could be a Orange-naped snake but i was a bit big for that
so i dunno. the python was impressive though as it had just eaten and was really fat a in the middle.
now we are back in cairns. i got my bank acount stuff and we had breakfast in a park here. so we will leave soon for mission beach and we want to do rafting the day after tomorrow in tully. should be really good....
