Went to Government Camp to visit Mt. Hood Visitor Center to collect brochures and tour museum. Had some time before going to the airport to pick up Marcus and Faith so we drove up to Timberline Lodge, known as the people's lodge. All of the wood was hand hewn by public workers into a monumental masterpiece and dedicated by FDR in 1937. Went to find Trillium Lake but was no parking available. It was Saturday and very crowded. Marcus and Faiths flight was delayled and will not be arriving until tomorrow afternoon. Day 38 Found the deal of the trip.....breakfast for $4.00. I mean eggs, pancakes, homefries, and choice of bacon or ham. This was at Zigzag Mountain Cafe, you guessed it, in Zigzag, Or. Faith and Marcus finally made it after lunch. After dropping their ... read more

Day 34 - Had a couple of things on the motorhome that needed attention so decided to take care of them today and spend the rest of the time relaxing. On recommendation of campground host we had dinner at Pier 101 Seafood Restaurant in Lincoln City. The food was ok, but restaurant is showing its age and needs a thorough cleaning and updating. Day 35 - Needed to resupply some items, so went shopping and then cleaned up the truck. Day 36 - Traveled to Mt. Hood Village an Encore RV Resort. Facilities were very nice, but sites were nothing special.... read more

We take off today on The Three Capes Scenic Drive for Cape Kawanda, Cape Lookout, and Cape Meares. Visited the Meares Lighthouse where we walked a short trail to see the Octupus Tree. Visited Sand Lake which is sand until high tide. Met a couple from Portland that told us about some places we might want to visit in that area.Of course they said we had to do Mt. Hood which we already had planned, but they recommended the Mt. Adams area and White Salmon River which we visited both of them.... read more

Head south to see the Rogue River Gorge. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable walk along the river. Our next stop is The Natural Bridge trail. Another easy walk along the Rogue to see a bridge formed by a lava run later to become a natural lava rock tunnel that the water runs under for about 20 FT. Headed back to Crater Lake to complete the rim drive around the West Rim. If ever here be sure to watch the 22 minute movie at Steel Visitor Center. We searched for wildflowers on the Castle Crest Trail but as seen on photos we missed the blooming season. We stopped at a couple of overlooks on our way back to camp. After dinner we drove back to Crater Lake for star gazing. By 10:00 PM nothing breathtaking ... read more

This morning we head north on Hwy 101 and the Avenue of the Giants Scenic Byway to Humboldt Redwoods State Park. There is a 950 - 1000 year old redwood that has survived fire, flood, and the logger's axe aptly named The Immortal Tree. In the Lower Bull Creek Flat area we hiked around the Roosevelt Forest and found 17 of the world's 100 tallest trees. The area is called "Old Forest" due to the fact it has never been logged.... read more
