Today we travel U. S. 101 The Redwood Highway to Sounds of the Sea RV Park in Trinidad, Ca. Nice drive through some of the old Redwoods and along some of the coastline. On a seafood restaurant adventure we ran across several private and commercial fishing boats moored out in the harbor. We also found the restaurant we were looking for. The Seascape located on the docks. View was great, service was average, food was ok but prices were very high. Guess when you are the only thing going in town you can charge whatever you want.... read more

Today we head back into San Francisco to visit Chinatown. It was an interesting walk and you probably could find about anything you might want for sale in the many shops. We did not find anything that we needed but we enjoyed window shopping. After Chinatown we walked several blocks to the Cable Car Museum and tried to figure how they keep all of the cables that run up to 26 cars on multiple routes from getting tangled like a backlashed fishing reel. Lunch was across the street at the Gallery Cafe. Nice, quaint little sandwich shop that was really pretty good. Next we walked down several very steep hills to the parking garage and headed over to drive the famous Lombard Street. OK we can say we drove down a steep hill. Headed back to ... read more

Drove north today crossing the Golden Gate Bridge stopping to walk out onto the bridge. Spotted some dolphins swimming underneath the bridge, but I am unable to prove it since we were so high they appeared the size of ants. Leaving the Golden Gate Bridge we continue north traveling through the Napa Valley home to more than 300 wineries. After getting tired of looking at vineyards we stopped for lunch in Lakeport, Ca. at Cheese's Main Street Pizza. Time to turn around and head back to the old corral. Of course we timed things perfectly for a rush hour traffic jam. Yeah!... read more

We head to town to visit Fishermans Wharf and Pier 39. Two levels of just about any type of shopping you could wish for...or not! Two guys performed an acrobatic show on the sidewalk raising money for tuition for school. Walked several blocks to Ghirardelli Square home of the world famous chocolate factory. Of course we had to leave their with a few?? hand selected squares of chocolate.... read more

Left early today so we could find parking at Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Hiked trail through old forest, saw a sequoia estimated to be 1,800 years old called The Grizzly Giant, the California Tunnel Tree (cut in 1895 to allow horse-drawn stages to pass through), the Faithful Couple (two large trees fused together at their base and sharing the same root system, remain clearly seperated above. The Bachelor and Three Graces is another example of four different trees sharing the same root system. Drove on to Tuolumne Meadows but rain moved in and we turned back to camp. Seeing Yosemite requires a lot of driving and riding. Long day, had to refresh at El Cid Mexican Restaurant in Oakhurst. Highly recommended if you like Mexican food.... read more

Headed out for Yosemite, first stop Mariposa Grove. All parking full, so will try this again earlier tomorrow. Headed for Glacier Point, the most popular area of Yosemite. We were able to see Half-Dome, and looked down on Yosemite Valley. Now for the long slow trek back to the main road. All of the attractions in Yosemite are very spread out, and roads are no fun to drive. After driving through Yosemite Village, no parking close enough for us to shop or find anything to eat, so we headed back out, but not without stopping to view El Capitan. We left the park through Arch Rock Entrance on hwy 140 to drive back to Oakhurst through Merced even though it is further it turned out to be much faster than returning through Wawona and the South ... read more

Travel day to Bakersfield, Ca. overnight at Bakersfield River Run RV Park. Extremely clean and neat. Temp. 108. Travel day to Oakhurst, Ca. for our base camp for Yosemite. High Sierra RV Park is one of the few campgrounds in the Yosemite area. We will never stay here again. My RV is 34 ft, and anything larger would never fit no matter what their webpage, or what they tell you over the phone.... read more
