life is short Do what suits you best at the moment, and above all do it with passion, that's all that matters, Joe. We all have expectations, but the trick is in mofifying them to suit the situation in which you find yourself, not the other way round. Keep up the good spirits.
Its about the experience Remember that it is all about the experience. Jeremy and I were discussing this and I commented how unfair it is that we are constrainted by modern time restrictions. Earlier pilgrims took as long as they needed to complete the trip. If it took 6 months, then so be it.
Enjoy the adventure and make memories. That is what its all about. Love you both!!

I've Followed other TBers who skipped the Meseta... between Burgos and Leon to get back on schedule. It saves a week or so. But for goal oriented people like me skipping parts of the Way, even though one only needs to walk the last hundred kms to receive the Compostello, that seems to be taking a short cut. I've also thought of taking the bus to the next town on rainy days. How are these shortcuts perceived by other pilgrims you have talked to?
Walk away Walk away quietly in any direction and taste the freedom of the mountaineer. Camp out among the grasses
and gentians of glacial meadows, in craggy garden nooks full of nature's darlings. Climb the mountains and
get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their
own freshness into you and the storm their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves. -- John Muir
Joe...see if you can get a tomato sandwich with mayo on white bread... along the way.
Beautiful The mountains are beautiful. Keep sending pictures! You lucked out through Chicago.....yesterday some nut started a fire in the FFA Chicago air traffic control center which cancelled 1900 flights and disrupted the entire air traffic network.

You took a taxi from Madrid to St Jean!!!! Wow! That must have cost a pretty penny. But at least you got there conveniently. I'm looking forward to reading the blogs of your pilgrimage.
I believe this is where I am to say something that will shift the earth on it's axis and make your world larger , brighter , more meaningful. Ok .I'll try . Here Goes .
Ask yourself this . "Whens the last time I did something for the first time "? . Or this " What was I worried about this time last year"? .. I will leave that for you to answer.
One of the reasons I'm going on the Camino is to step each day into a new view , experience new-ness and meet new people. Another reason is it's my way of showing my son's ,grandkids , nieces and nephews that the overused Latin term "C... full info
