The Spanish mail (Correos) also offers luggae transfer service... for 4 euros to the next albergue or 20 euros for multi day service. You should compare services and prices. As you say, the only problem with transport services is that you are committed to walking to the albergue you designated.
oh the weighing I remember "twirling" as we called it with Katie every night trying to lighten those packs. When I left SeaTac airport my bag was 20lbs but I "forgot" about hauling water and food for some days...I became so desperate for weight I tore off 30 dental floss strips and gave the box away lol! Did you use an umbrella for the sun before? I just had a huge hat (Costco). I will be watching for how you get that weight down...best of luck to you, excited to hear your adventures.
28 lbs Not much luck :( a few ounces here and there but no "Lbs" . I'll try that floss idea ! :)
Starting with an overweight pack and bum knee isn't the best of scenarios but will work hard to make it a success. The umbrella will most likely be dumped as well as some electronics . Then there's those Barracus(sp) Express's if things get difficult . Love the floss idea! Maybe I'll look into removing some bristles from my toothbrush :) .. Good to hear from you Karen!
You may be a bit heavy on the electronics... can one recharger be used for all your electronics? Good luck in cutting five pounds! Take care of that knee!
Heavy on the Electronics Yes , I agree I'm heavy in this department , Pink slips go out tomorrow . I have a recharger that will give me 4 full charges on my cell photo . Its slightly 2heavy but needed . Might lose the Go Pro and Ipod . Havn't decided on other things yet . Knees holding it's own so far , fingers crossed.
Take it Knee-sy Hey Unc. Wow. You are loved and will be missed -- what a wonderful round of celebrations. How cool of Laurie to organize all that, and very kind of all your friends. I so empathize with knee pain. Not fun. Tina (Aunt Terri's Tina) hurt her knee recently too. It's this thing in the middle of our leg we never think about until we're scrubbing floors, gardening or injured. I think you're smart to rest rest and more rest. Gentle yoga-ing maybe? Love you
Arriving Madrid on the 19th myself, but I'm staying there a night before heading up toward the Via Del Norte. Will watch for you at the airport. Good luck with the knee.
Take care of that knee... and walk shorter distances at first. I'm not planning to walk more than 20 km/day and mostly about 16 km. So you can do it!!!
I believe this is where I am to say something that will shift the earth on it's axis and make your world larger , brighter , more meaningful. Ok .I'll try . Here Goes .
Ask yourself this . "Whens the last time I did something for the first time "? . Or this " What was I worried about this time last year"? .. I will leave that for you to answer.
One of the reasons I'm going on the Camino is to step each day into a new view , experience new-ness and meet new people. Another reason is it's my way of showing my son's ,grandkids , nieces and nephews that the overused Latin term "C... full info
