Writing this from Gerendiain Spain at Hostel La Pasada Nueva .(Sept 29) We started out from Espinal this morning taking our time enjoying the views . For breakfast we had hot chocolate, cafe' le leche ' , OJ and toasted baguettes with assorted Jelly or butter. Baguette s are pretty much the main part of the morning meal here in Navarre..eggs, bacon, grits , homefries don't exist ...bread, apart from red wine, in the form of baguettes is a major component of all meals here . If your diabetic, your screwed in this part of Spain.
Theres other non-breakfast foods to enjoy of course, I had a chorizo served on baguette for lunch , Sautéed cauliflower served with piece's of baguettes for dinner. This included a pasta tomato dish with pork loin cutlets (they rocked) served with more baguettes. Red wine is flowing here btw its served always, especially during dinner. Life as a Camino Pilgrim is superb.
The forecast calls for rain over the next two days so it looks like its time to don our raingear for the first time. Yippeee.! 😞 . Tomorrow we head to Zubiri to spend the night then on to Pamplona for
two days respite, visit Hemingways favorite cafe' and pretend I'm running with the bulls or from them or from baguettes
Buen Camino!
