Memphis Ribs
I just started reading blogs again. You really took this topic seriously. Makes me hungry just looking at the photo. And the sides...I like some of these better than ribs. Smile. Glad you had fun tasting and judging.

Memphis Ribs
Thank you for reading and commenting. We enjoyed many of the sides as much as the ribs. It was a fun tasting around Memphis.

Oh Yes!
You made me hungry. We plan to drive to Nashville in the spring, maybe need to add Memphis into the plan
18th February 2021

Oh yes
Nashville has excellent BBQ also. I'm glad you are planning to get out and move around the country.

The joy of eating!
Bravo!! Congrats on sacrificing yourselves for the sake of humanity!! One fine day - when overseas travel is back on the agenda - we'll add Memphis on our long list of where we're heading off too but Denmark and Japan do take priority!! Stay safe and remember those good table manners your mum taught you. xx

The joy of eating!
So many places to go and so little time. Memphis is a food and music town. Stay safe.

Cornished hens
Even though I rarely eat meat, I really enjoyed this blog for its insight into a US eating style. I know we are English speakers separated by a language but what on earth is a Cornish hen? You have been to Oz so you know that, here, an Entree is a "small" appetiser before you eat the Main Course which may be followed by a Dessert. When I was in the US, I was appalled to discover that an "Entree" is actually a main course and of a HUGE size. Sylvia and I usually shared an "Entree" and were rarely able to finish it. When we asked for a "doggy bag" to take the remaining meal home we were looked at with blank stares. We were often able to get two - and sometimes three - meals out of a single "Entree".

The Germantown Commissary

The best country I've found for food is probably a surprise
I have been thinking that maybe I should try a food themed trip some day. But so far I've never done that. But like anybody I appreciate good food. The best country I've been in when it came to food is probably a big surprise to many people. It was Bulgaria. Not the tourist resorts and not the Sofia. It was the corner restaurant in the smaller cities and the roadside places in the middle of nowhere that had the best food. Also, the coffee in Bulgaria was the best I've ever had. And the food and the coffee was so cheap. /Ake

The best country for food
The U.S. would make for a grand food trip. NYC is a taste treat all in itself. The NE has such amazing seafood and cowders. New Orleans for "cajun" anything... seafood and gumbo, Several states for BBQ. You can hit the sound for collard greens and friend chicken... which we ate last weekend because we were tired of ribs. It is easy to eat your way across America. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Not a rib guy
as you know. Not a rib guy and I think I could easily pass on the BBQ Bologna but that Turkey and even that Cornish hen look good to me and I love a good BBQ sauce. Nice review. All those sides would make me want to make a meal out of those.

Not a rib guy
No you are not.... but the sides can become a smorgasbord and did on many occasions. The Cornish hen was really good.

The Thrill Has Gone
11 to 1 'twas getting hungry in expectation and ended with a bowl of cold onion rings. How could you??? How could you go past BB's Famous Lip Smacking Ribs, slow-cooked, fall-off-the-bone pork ribs seasoned with BB's spice rub blend, finished on a grill with BB's BBQ sauce, served with baked beans and slaw??? Then further down Beale Street to Polly's for catfish and green tomatoes. They even had Memphis ribs in BB Kings Blues Club in Moscow with numerous sauces. Talk about Take Your Hat Off and where's the Wang Dang Doodle!!! On a Lazy Sunday Afternoon...cannot grumble. Suggest you try an Argentinian BBQ like we had in Buenos Aires...just meat...like a whole cow or sheep...can't recall the sauce...just remember never seen so much BBQed meat. Then there was the splayed BBQ lamb in El Chalten...like Heaven in the Backseat of my Cadillac...succulent and crunchy. Suggest next time you dine in Memphis you head into Beale Street and make sure you are Riding with the King...then y'all be cookin'!

The Thrill Has Gone
We've been to Beale Street and we've had the ribs. This blog about exclusive to "rib joints"... places that specialize in ribs.. not places that specialize in music and serve ribs. B.B. Kings place has some decent ribs. Thanks for commenting.

BBQ
We don't have BBQ joints here in the Uk to the best of my known;edge, but your blog sure makes my mouth water! Keep safe.

memories
thank you so much for taking the time to research Memphis BBQ. It brought back so many memories from when my late husband and I visited in 2015. We loved Central BBQ but weren't that impressed by Jack's.

Memories
Memphis BBQ research was fun. As we pointed out several stood out but several just weren't impressive. None were horrible but some you would not want to mess with a second time. Central did it for us. Glad we gave you some memories. We need those right now.

All the Ribs Looked Good!
I don't know how you were able to eat so much from so many places! But you definitely gave a review that I will keep. Bill would have loved going there with you!!

All the Ribs looked Good
Ann, so good to hear from you. We've been visiting rib places for over 8 months so we took our time. We are tired of eating ribs so didn't go to all the places we originally thought we would. It was fun. Bill would have loved this tasting. I'll call soon.

Thanks
Appreciate the hard work you have done on this project. Have been waiting for months for the final four! It is always the sauce.
7th February 2021

Thanks
Bob, thanks for reading and yes it is always the sauce. We did find a fair difference in the quality of meat that some places used. Some of it was too fatty for our taste. The final four is in the books.

Looking forward to getting back to BBQ tours
Thanks for the yummy reminder of Memphis BBQ! We are itching to get on the road again. Things have changed quite a bit on our end. Sold the RV and haven't posted a trip in quite some time - enjoyed a nice road trip through New England in September. I'll get around to writing that up.

Looking forward to getting back to BBQ tours
Memphis is a good place to explore BBQ. Dave is working in Memphis so we've been able to eat our way through the town on weekends. I hope you are happy that you sold the RV and yes I hope you will be on the road again. Too bad I didn't know you were heading into the NE as I've been working in the Boston area the past few months. Looking forward to reading your next blog. Thank you for commenting.

That's made me hungry.
I made hot n spicy ribs last week though. A Jamie Oliver recipe using chilli, garlic, honey, orange and lime zest, smoked paprika, olive oil, salt, black pepper. Marinade overnight, cook sealed for two hours then add the honey, orange and lime zest for an additional half hour on high. Can't go outside till summer!

That's made me hungry
Good hearing from you John. Jamie Oliver recipes are always a winner. It was tough work but we forced our self to sample ribs, ribs, ribs and side dishes.
