Sunday morning.... Was not the most productive morning of my life. But my lack of productivity was more due to sleep deprivation than liver poisoning. Once showered and as awake as was possible I met Joey's roommate and we then proceeded to watch several Super Bowl half time shows, talk about how awesome Nashville is and we even had a quick listen to a very cool record player. All in all, good times, not so much authentic Charleston. It was after midday when I finally ventured into the hottest day of the year so far, and I drove the 10 minutes down town then drove another 15 minutes around in circles because my sat nav wasn't quite sure what was going on! Eventually I found where I was staying, an old house which seemed to be ... read more

Saturday morning, I packed up all my stuff and realised that I may need an extra suitcase just to get things home! Oopsy!! I went to fill my new water bottle up (must drink more water!) and it still had ice in it... Still.. 24 hours later! I'm so impressed. I guess I'm easily pleased! Ha. I set off east, and then north, with my spotify set to awesome. Three hours into the drive and I hadn't left the state yet. I'd stopped my finger tapping, and was decidedly bored. And so to my hands free kit. I started with calling the parents, and then the siblings, and then several friends... Then I JUST crossed into Georgia. As I was starting to get monumentally bored, I got off the motorway and drove around looking for a ... read more

Friday was the last day I planned to stay in Clermont, and I had a few bits an bobs that I wanted to do before diving into the pool and staying there for a while! I filled up mu water bottle with ice and water and told Patty I'd be back in about an hour after going to the craft store so I can be a scrapbook geek when I get back to the UK. As I was walking into the shop, I noticed a really nice looking nail salon. My nails, I had done at the beach, were pretty crappy, despite them being gel nails they'd already almost fallen off. So I popped in and an hour later I came out with pretty new nails. I then spent an hour in the craft store.. Apparently ... read more

Thursday became a kind if spontaneous road trip day! When we left chateaux Herder we weren't even sure if we were going to stay away for a night or not, so we packed over night bags, filled a cooler, and tried out our new insulated water bottles (I'm SURE there will be more on that topic later) We headed west towards Tampa and St Petersburg along roads which time had forgotten! The only tourists out there would be very very lost tourists! I wanted to stop and take pictures of some of the very old falling down abandoned houses. Patty informed me that people wouldn't take kindly to some random woman taking pictures of their homes! I genuinely thought they were abandoned! Ha! On our way to the west coast the weather turned and the sky ... read more

Before I start Wednesdays post - I've just noticed that I am being made to look pretty illiterate due to a combination of no proofreading and autocorrect on my phone or iPad just being ridiculous. I am, on the whole, someone with a slight grasp on the English language, despite evidence to the contrary. Sorry for all the jibberish! So... Wednesday. Plans really got changed around and Patty and I ended up having a very relaxing laid back kind of a day. We had a good float around in the pool... Until thunder in the distance convinced us to head indoors and do productive things. It didn't actually rain at all.. I guess it was just natures way of us get on With our day! Unfortunately for my bank account and baggage weight limits.. The productive ... read more

Tuesday morning and my first thought was my car. Getting to Alamo at Orlando airport would be hours of a job and there were no closer locations. As the car is brand new patty suggested that I take it to the local dealer and see if it's something really simple that can just be fixed. I got into my car, started the engine and there was no engine warning light... Nothing. I decided to drive a little way to see if it came back on and if it did take it to the garage... If I went without the light on they'd just think I was some crazy English! As I drove the light sort of flickered on and off and as I was low on fuel, I nipped into a petrol station. As I was ... read more

On Monday morning, we packed up our bags, loaded our car and drove the 20 minutes south to the old town of Franklin which is just outside Nashville. On the way there we passed some absolutely gorgeous houses and even drove down to side streets just to have a nosy! Franklin itself was amazing, imagine old fashioned America and Franklin is what you come up with. The town is steeped in history (American time scale history though obviously) and apparently there was one of the biggest battles of the American civil war fought there. We saw pieces of that history as we strolled around the antique shops and other independent, gorgeous stores. Sometime in the form of artifacts found on peoples' land, sometimes in the stories which were written on big plaques around town. On the ... read more

Sunday started very slowly for Brittney and I, Patty on the other hand was bounding around, fresh as a daisy early on. As we started the day a little leisurely, it seemed apt to have a leisurely brunch in an almost French (ish) patisserie before heading to the country music hall of fame. I've got to be honest, aside from Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, etc I'm not too up to speed on my country music but with plenty of help from my resident country music lover Brittney I got caught up quickly. The museum is huge, and you start at the top and work your way forward in time (is there any other way?!) and end right up in the present AKA the gift shop! There was a sort of workshop/demonstration of a harmonica but two ... read more

NASHVILLE! First order of business yesterday was moving from our hotel out of town to a hotel just a block or two away from Broadway and printers alley. Then on to breakfast at Puckets Grocery. I use the term breakfast pretty loosely, Brittney and I had pulled pork with sweet potato pancakes and Patty had brisket hash on a cornbread waffle. It was all amazing! They did actually out a fried egg on top so that we knew it was supposed to be breakfast! It's been such a perfect temperature whilst we've been here, just great walking weather so we walked a fair ways around the city and then got a taxi to East Nashville. It is such a cool place! Lovely streets of arty houses with perfect gardens. Some had wrap around porches with rocking ... read more

Yesterday was a busy day after two blissful relaxing days. I wanted to get a little but more time in the sunshine before I went up to Orlando to meet with Patty so I got up and took my self off onto the beach. There wasn't another soul in either direction when I got down there and it more or less stayed that way until I had to leave to get ready for my trip a couple of hours later. I loved staying at the Seascape Motel, it wasn't a resort, and it wasn't luxury but it was clean, and the staff were fabulous and my room was just steps away from the beach. When I come back here in the future, I think that will be my go to relaxation place! I took a leisurely ... read more
