Admittedly, while long, it was one of the least eventful flights on record. Of course, I took my NyQuil, curled up into the fetal position and slept 90% of the way. I woke up feeling almost human - or at least like the possibility of being human again exists. :-) So, all in all, I've been great company. :-) The Taipei airport is all but shut down although they are playing English Christmas music incessantly. Yeah. We did meet a couple of other Americans going to Bangkok and have traded travel war stories and discussions regarding where the best hot showers will be. First stop, John Wayne to drop Samantha off for her holiday with her dad and then off to Pasandena to pick up Athena. From there to Cal Tech and then to LAX. And we won't even have left the ground yet! I have everthing packed I think - I know I'm bringing pretty much the entire stock of Rite-Aid. Yup - still sick. I'm only occassionally wishing for death though so I must be getting better. If I sleep enough on the plane, maybe I'll kick this before landing. I can hope, right? I'm hoping the Thais don't wonder why I'm bringing so many drugs INTO the country. Merry Christmas to all. Christine ... read more

Welcome! The mere fact that I'm able to take the time to set this up should tell you that I've got prepartions pretty much under control. Well, that and the fact that I'm not moving off my couch a whole lot right now as I wrap up my bout of Influenza A. My timing is, as ever, well conceived. To make sure we're all on the same figurative page, I'm traveling with my dear friend Athena as part of a 12 person group organized by Intrepid Travel.
