Over look the pretension Sounds like a fantastic weekend. Too bad the fountain was turned off. Romance, chocolate and fine dining....what more does one need?
Great to hear from you again... it's been almost two years since you blogged from Peru. Geneva isn't the only pretentious Swiss city, or European city for that matter. But it's fun to visit nevertheless. Especially if your wife works there.
Thanks guys for giving us such a great laugh Sitting at our hostel in the morning waiting to get a very long bus ride, and not looking forward to it and you guys gave us the biggest laugh of this trip....bloody funny. As for the restaurant, we have a word for it...."random". Use that word a lot in South America.
Great photos, and can't wait for your next one.
Anger management I (Donna) have anger management issues too and am liable to explode when people annoy me. Luckily Neil has a cooler head to intervene! I really hate queue jumpers though and in Asia people are particularly bad and I have no qualms about having a go and sending people to the back of the queue with the 'death glare'! Hopefully your replacement flight went well and you were able to recover the money from the shoddy company who cancelled on you. Looking forward to the rest of your trip blogs!
Fighting to Save the Great English Queue! Tackling the busiest airport in the world at hellO’clock with little sleep and even scanter blood sugar levels is bound to test the man. Add to that the ordered crush which contemporary airports have become and, someone trying to sneak in front of you in the queue was bound to break the camels back…just lucky you didn’t break his. Airport security doesn’t take too kindly to such incidents and the tabloids would have had a field day. “Man Bludgeoned to Death for Jumping Queue at Heathrow Airport”. It would have sparked whole national debate! Fortunately you were restrained and perhaps even fortunate you were able to release a little steam before you were informed your flight was cancelled… that is when I’d have blown!
Love the honesty in this blog…hope you keep it up and avoid the clichés. I’m sure you await greater challenges in South America…it may even lead to you shrugging off that future queue jumper on your return trip to blighty!
I'll be tuning in to find out!
Wow... ...the good news, is....you made it...
I fly a little...Air France has been a no-no for me, and many of my friends for ages...sorry you had no idea about them!
Chris....words are more powerful than fists..trust me...and they can be way more annoying if you let the guy in front of you hit first...
Last lesson, next time, try check-in only 24 hours before your flight...if there is problem, you'll find it way earlier! Glad you are back on the blogging trail!
My heart was racing As I read the intro I was worried you had slugged the guy. Did you ever find out why the flight was cancelled by the company ? More details please. We can see you made it to Peru. Isn't it magical. We were there in 2003 and we'd love to go back. It is one of our favorites.
Holy Crap I was all excited to see a new blog from you, but wow, I did not expect that. Hopefully the photos are a teaser that you did make it and had a great time. Looking forward to more. And BTW, way to stand your ground. Rude people are just not worth the time. If you stayed in any great hotels, or have any recommendations for my trip, please shoot a PM when you have a chance.
Things can only get better A nightmare start for sure! I think you should practice being able to nonchalantly let your bags slip from your shoulder so that you can give your "target" the death stare without interruption. Perhaps you can practice on the tour company representative who cancelled your flights.
Oh dear... What a rubbish start to your trip. I totally sympathise with the anger management as I (Sophie) am quick to react to situations such as that too, I can't believe you were going to have a full on fight with the guy though! Well done Nikki for pulling the situation back into control.
I hope the next installment sees you safely on the plane and having one of the best adventures of your life to make the bad start pale into insignificance.
Great photos! I've been without wifi for awhile, so I just now read your great blog--fab photos and a wonderful adventure in a place i love and hope to revisit as i slowly head home! You are such great travelers!
Congratulations..again :) Thank you for sharing your second wedding - just reading about it bought a big smile to my face..beautiful pics & gotta love imodium! Looking forward to your next wedding.
Congratulations (again)! I absolutely love this idea - Andras and I are currently planning out wedding for later this year and it was quite the compromise between his desire for a destination beach wedding, and the practical logistics of getting my family to travel anywhere (and by compromise I mean ... we're having it close to my family). I promised we could do a vow renewal in a tropical location later - and I'm so glad to read of your account which suggests it can be just as special (and perhaps even more intimate and less stressful) to do it that way.
PS: I think year two swaps cotton and paper - it's paper in the US for the first, cotton for the second. Vice versa in the UK? Looks like you've already got it covered :)
Welcome to our blog, we are Chris & Nikki and we are travel addicts!!!
Chris is a born & bred Londoner (and a 'real' Cockney).
Nikki is originally from Chester Le-Street in Durham but has been 'down south' since she started university.
We (try to) visit four places a year and if possible try to make it a different continent each time.
We love life experiences, photography and travel and if we're lucky we combine them all in one trip.
Travelblog is pretty much our diary of places visited & a diary of our relationship,
