August 16 2012 Hello world, I am here! I feel like so much has happened since the last time I blogged, and it hasn’t even been that long. This is going to be all over the place, and probably should be broken up into a few blog posts but I’m too lazy to do that. Sorry it’s so long and maybe boring but it’s worth reading through it all at your own pace. Lots of experiences and thoughts. 3 Days, 3 Cities I started off trekking back to Hai Phong in the hopes of somehow bringing back a motor bike AND my huge ass luggage, and visit some friends in the meantime. What really happened: It was raining and already half past 3 by the time I arrived at the footsteps of Irene’s apartment. ... read more

August 8, 2012 Life changes so fast. A month ago I was at a beach bar with my closest friends, getting ready to depart on an Asian adventure. And two weeks before that I was lazily floating down the Colorado River, sleeping under the stars and soaking up the beauty of the Grand Canyon. Now I am sitting on my couch, in my new house, in Hanoi, Vietnam, listening to the sounds of everyday life here. For those of you who don’t know, I decided to quit my job in Hai Phong. I really enjoyed Hai Phong and miss the more laid back, chill life style but I love the diversity of people and things to do in Hanoi. It’s a lively city. The company in Hai Phong was so unorganized, and shady. They didn’t follow ... read more

5 Things I love about Vietnam: 1. Most things are very cheap! I have eaten out every single meal, bought things, took a mini vacation, gone out drinking and I have yet to spend $300. Plus an hour and a half facial for $4. 2. My favorite breakfast "bang me patte" which is only .50 cents! and delicious. And My Xao, which is like ramen noodles with veggies and meat. Basically most the food is really bomb. 3. The chill life style. 4. The warm weather and Thunderstorms that we can watch from our roof top lounge thingy. 5. Coffee with condensed milk and iced coco. 5 Things I don't love about Vietnam 1. The anxiety being on the road causes whether I'm driving or the passenger or even just walking. 2. Motor cycle burns. 3. ... read more

It was a super nice morning. Had some iced coco then a bomb noodle, fish sauce, mystery meat meal. Delishous and filling but not heavy. Came home and got my computer that i finally got back from the stupid IT guy. (he erased everything including my iTunes and microsoft office...) But now i can use the internet!! YAY so i spent the afteernoon relaxing ina hammock on the roof checking email and bills and FB. PLUS i got to skype my mom for about an hour! July 11 2012 Somehow I always end up on the back of someone’s motor bike, holding on for dear life and enjoying every second of it. But lets back up for a minute… Upon arrival not only was I greeted by my contact from school but also the stifling humidity. As soon as we left the airport I was instantly at ease with Vietnam. It’s something about tropical weather and surroundings that just make life more peaceful. The green, lush land I saw rush past my window was so tranquil posing a juxtaposition to the conditions of the roads. Not to say the roads were in bad conditions but it’s definitely a jungle navigating them. Constant, blaring horns, cars, trucks and motor bikes driving which ever way they want, and the most annoying thing; no one ... read more

July 9th2012 Today I left behind everything comfortable, everything that makes me who I am, and embarked on a journey; not just to Vietnam via Taipei, but to further explore myself. This is my first real blog entry and my first real exploration out of my comfort zone. You see although Costa Rica and Spain were no less then an adventure, I had an idea of what was going to happen. I understood a little bit of the culture and language. I had expectations. Now if find my self on one of the scariest flights of my life, minus the flight to 13,000 feet for my skydive! This trip has created the upmost uncertainty and anxiety. Never before have I been so apprehensive to explore the unknown and leaving behind my loved ones. I have absolutely ... read more

Hello blog world! First off, I have never been very good with technology so if anyone has cool tips or suggestions about my blog, I am all ears. Second, I have a few trips under my belt along with living and working abroad but my current mission: document and share my next expedition into the unknown. I did the work to secure my teaching position in Vietnam so now I am in a waiting game, til the day comes. Today I made a check list of things to do before I leave which includes: consolidate my student loans cancel my cell phone plan clean out my wardrobe buy a large luggage make copies of all my documents clear off my computer and update the software check my insurance Vietnamese to English dictionary stock up and make ... read more
