Interesting observations Interesting that some towns are bigger than expected and others smaller. Until you travel around the U.S. you can't dispel the misconceptions. Glad everyone is friendly.
Utah and Nevadta What a barren landscape, and what feelings it unleashed in both of you! Preserve those words, whatever you do! I am longing for you to come home!
Love you
Mum

Our river crested not too much damage, waiting to hear about Medicine Hat all evacuated....on and on it goes re rivers cresting and over... like I said all of down town Calgary evacuaated.....really bad weather we have had soooo sad..........hundreds of thousands with homes full of water....we were luckey...... safe travels thanks for the blog oh by the way i am the 100th blog do I get a prize for following so closes.. xo

Utah! Watch out for the N-S interstate route up Utah. My recollection is that it is 100+ miles of urban freeway, complete with all the concrete, congestion and other crap big cities have to offer. Perhaps there is another way through?
Stay safe.

I was thinking you rode too far each day I wish you had more time to explore and enjoy the small towns you are driving through. Still enjoying your adventure.
Goose bumps I'm not a motorcycle rider but always love seeing riders on the road to adventure. Thrilled that I found your blog today. I'm really enjoying reading about your trip. I can hear the joy in your writing!

Day 50 Dear Helen and Ian, This part of your trip is not a relaxing holiday - it is an EXPERIENCE. I have been thinking of you all day and wishing that you were safe at home. Yes. I am longing for you to get through the mountains and into the Pacific North West. This song keeps going through my head - "You've come a long way together, But you've still got a long way to go" I Love you, Mum
Lexington Kentucky Dear Helen and Ian, I am having computer problems - your blogs are coming in unevenly - not in the right order and 2 days late and 4 of the same.
Keep travelling north west, because I want you back home!
Love you,
Mum xxxxxx
Turn Right! Have you 'zoomed out' on your ll Google Maps lately?
I just did and it looks like you are now about even with San Francisco. At this rate, you will hit Miami before Victoria!
I continue to ride with you but, with your lengthy detours, our deal about sharing gas is now off.
Continue to journey safely.

Amish I would love to see that part of the country Too bad civilization is hording in on them and there lives. I love the new reality show of the Amish that have left there Colony too funny. The area looks so lush and green (especially after that shower) ok so for the trailer camp trailer trash is all I got to say do you wish you were in the cabin your blogs are amazing still and love them keeping track of you on my atlas putting circles on your stops love it love you sis xo
Amish You have a sense of humour Ian! I am glad that you will now be riding west - you were getting too near to the tornado area for my peace of mind...
There is an Amish settlement in southern Ontario, and the women brought their farm produce to a big market in Waterloo - they were so picturesque in their bonnets and long cotton dresses. Love you both, Mum
Perhaps your next cross country tour will be on horse and buggy. Knowing Heli, I'm sure she could get a good deal on a used one! Have fun, be safe and please continue to entertain us!
Dear Helen and Ian, You will be experienced campers after this, and you have paid dearly for what you have learned. It is hard to believe that such places are in business. May you find nothing but paradise in the weeks ahead.
Love you,
Mum
New York State I am sorry to hear that you are both sick! You must have super strong bodies that are keeping you moving before you have fully recovered. I would be sidelined for at least a week... I am not going to write much in Comment, so read your emails every now and again .As I have said before, your blogs are fantastic and I shall miss them when you get back into your overtime work grind. Love you, Mum xxx

the pictures look beautiful, keep enjoying the nature, keep positive, keep safe! love u! <3<3
'Cleethorpes' it sounds as if this could have been the worst day of your trip, but it saved you from a worse one to Boston and New York, so it was good that you experienced it. The price of food and lodging is outrageous, but I am glad that you enjoyed the lobster.
Love and hugs
Mum
I'm loving your travelogue, especially the days in Newfoundland. I've always wanted to go!
Any plans for the route home yet? Our spare bed is free as of June 12, if you're coming through Sacramento!
