Dear Helen and Ian, You are in Newfoundland already! You should both consider cashing in on your writing skills. With your terrific command of the English language, you could write articles for newspapers and magazines. I am amazed at how much descriptive detail you include in your daily blogs, when you must be exhausted after long days of riding. those heavy bikes. What about a book - your own life story could be made into a best seller, just write it in the third person and you have a novel. I don\'t know anyone else who has so many talents, and you are mine - my very own chosen daughter, and I love you to bits, Mum
This was the blog that I lost because of the receive/send problem, so I am delighted to have caught up with you. I mixed up my cities yesterday; it is in Monkton that the tide comes rushing into the Bay of Fundy, and the road feels as if it is going down when it is actually going up. Norma and I stayed there, in the gorgeous home of one of her friends. You have a hope of catching these strange experiences on the way back. I love your new map. Love from Mum
Wow, what a meal! I doubt that I could have eaten all that in a week. I hope that the platter was between the two of you. I had lobster on Prince Edward island, and customers were given huge bibs to wear It was quite an experience, but nothing compared with yours. I am delighted that you are having so many wonderful highlights since you reached Ottawa. Love you, Mum
My dear Helen and Ian, As soon as you mentioned those horizontal traffic lights, I thought of you, Ian, being faced with them without warning. Norma and I stayed at that big hotel on the upper level. and walked down that long stairway to Old Quebec ,the next morning. You did well to bypass Montreal, it a nightmare because of its many bridges. I remember Norma using some colourful words when she got on to the wrong one. There are two thing that will impress you on New Brunswick - the tide rushing into Fredericton\\\'s inlet at a phenomenal speed, and a road that gives the sensation that you are going up when you are going down, or vise versa.
I must turn to the news to watch the results of the election - your girls will have voted for the first time - a milestone in their lives.
I am looking forward to hearing from you tomorrow. Love you, Mom

My dear Helen and Ian,thank you for being so closely in touch for my birthday and Mother\'s day! I have never before had my phone on speaker - it was wonderful for all of us to get together for a family visit. Sally connected Skype to my PC, but the microphone is not working, so she is coming back to fix it when sh has more time. The girls were full of fun, but I will leave them to tell you what they did with the photographs on Emma\'s new phone.
I knew that you would love Ottawa and Quebec. I wasn\'t there long enough to see all that I wanted to see in 1989, and I would love to go back to both cities, but it is a bit late now. Your pictures are fantastic. It is great that that the two of you are making such great memories together. I travelled alone to Expo 86, in Montreal, but the city itself doesn\'t compare with Ottawa and Quebec, they are two jewels.
Eventually, the weather will allow you camp and picnic, so the best is yet to come.
Loads of love
Mum

You are in Canada! Thanks a million Ian and Helen for you birthday greetings! - I had 11 emails this morning, the most I have ever had in one day, so I checked the calendar. I thought I had slept for 7 years, and I was already 100! I am delighted that you are in Canada and that everywhere is warm and sunny and beautiful. Enjoy your day of rest. Emma says she is coming tomorrow and Sally says, both of them are coming on Sunday.
I have found more space! Norma spent several years of her childhood in North Bay, and in 1989 I travelled with her to Ottawa, Quebec City, and the Maritimes, so some of this territory is familiar to me. We didn't get to Newfoundland because the ferry wasn't running to St John's.
It is a sunny day here and 20 degrees
Love you lots
Mum
Map Hi Helli
Does your GPS upload its recording to the web. Some Garmin units do that (it\'s what I used) and that\'s nice cuz every little excursion is shown. If you could do that, I am not sure about pasting the result into your blog.
Alternately, you could simply \'copy\' your route into MapMyRide and then replicate that site\'s result into your blog. I know that there is a plugin for WordPress that provides that kind of arrangement but I am not sure whether there is a similar facility in/for travelblog.
I will look further when I get a minute.
Yup, that Timmy\'s in the Soo sure tasted good!!

Quintland North Bay is close to Calendar, (Quintland - a world renound tourist attraction) where the Dionne quintuplets were born in 1934 - 5 identical little girls, Yvonne, Cecile, Annette,Emmilie and Marie. Cecile and Annette are still alive and live in Montreal. I am sending you a comment every day, But I still don't know if you are receiving them. Love you, Mother
Tim Horton's The photo of you on the bike is awesome. I think you should send it to Tim Hortons for advertising. Thanks for keeping us up to date.
hugs, Janet
Horse and Buggy As you travel along the winding roads at 120 KMH.. or even 60 in the city limits, to come along something like a Amish horse and buggy traveling at the most 8 to 10 KMH must have left an imprint. I'm sure I would have been thinking about the people in the buggy all day. What different lives we all live, some, like you and Ian, taking the fast a furious, exciting Rd to see as much of this world and our amazing Country of Canada as possible. Knowing we have a set amount of years to see our dreams become reality only to come smack face to face with others, who, in a buggy steer their team of horses or horse ( probably named Neddy) down the road. Clip clopping along the same road day after day year after year maybe pleased a little more then another when a day brings the perfect temperature. hugs, Janet

Fun times! So pleased you are enjoying your trip and taking time to look around and take it all in! Wish we were riding along with you. What fun that would be. Hoping to take time out from mucking out crews and moving sheep tomorrow and get out on the bike! Can't wait to get my speed thrills of 100/110 mph lol. I can see your face now Helli !! :) I do get a daily dose of shepherding on the quad with Meg (dog) riiding shotgun doing upto 25mph up the road to the yard with the wind blowing through my hair as no helmet. Hey, I could always follow you on your trail on that I suppose!!! Keep riding safe. xxxxxx
Diner Heaven Ahh, how I love those small town diners and their patrons. And 'healthy food' considerations aside, you gotta love their grilled cheese sandwiches. At least that what I came to appreciate, being a vegetarian in places where Chicken Fried Steak always got top billing. Enjoy the 'high-line', the Route #2 that I became so familiar with 3 years ago. I am travelling along with you.

How great to read your blog Ian! It came after I answered the one from Helen. I am so glad that you had that perfect day, and I am wishing you many more of the same. You two have so much in common, even a writing talent, and your pictures are fantastic - they brighten my day. Love you, Mum
apple Betty Your adventure continues and you are telling a story where I can almost smell the apples, feel the breezes and life as you put the letters together on the page. You are most definitely living the good life and I'm so happy for you.

Good day bad day Everyone's day can be looked at differently, sort of like an art show. For one person sitting in front of a slot machine with a good bowl of chili would seem perfect at the end of a day like you had. Oh dear I do hope your next leg makes you forget all about this one. Love to you both. Janet
good morning Hope you both got some needed rest, that sounded like a wild start to the adventure, you will like missoula, you are just a couple of hours from me, do you want to come north???? I can have supper ready. The weather is better now so should be a nice ride today....see you soon....13 more sleeps for us. See you in St. Johns love yea Carol

Thinking of you both I have written 5 comments, but I didn't know that I had to double click, so you may have received only one. I haven't heard from you today, so I hope everything is joyful for you along the Hudson River.
You should be a writer, Helen
Love you. Mother
