Ok, this might be a bit boring, but if you ever want to travel with family that you have never travelled with, you might want to make a hard copy and keep it to read at that time. We really are having a great time. Sister Liz has just called and is actually in Fort Lauderdale awaiting the arrival of her luggage from Calgary. We will be picking her up shortly. Mary, Annette and Skater Sue made a booze run and came back with 2 boxes of wine etc. Alcohol really greases the joints or disjoints among us all. I have some great pics that I hope to be able to post soon. I did reach Gail yesterday. She was spending some time with her Dad and she and Richard will fly out of Detroit to ... read more

I now have unreputable proof...dryers do eat socks. The other night or early morning for those that know me well, I thought I needed to wash my new socks. They were in a bag with 10 pair so that makes 20 socks, doesn't it? Well, when I brought the socks up to pack, there were only 17!! Where did the other 3 go?? I didn't even go and look again because I always believed the dryer ate socks, now I know for sure. And why did I count?? When you are one of 11 people, all the clean socks had to be in pairs. So one of the tasks on the family to-do list, besides picking them up, washing them in a wringer washer, drying them on the clothes line, was to make sure the socks ... read more

Hello Dear Family and Friends In just a few days, I will be headed on a jet plane to Fort Lauderdale and Gail will be in Aruba floating on the Lazy River. The past few months have been busy for both of us and since Arizona we have only managed short jaunts together. But even the short trips have been fun and we are always open to new adventures no matter where we are. In the pictures at this website, you can see the Lazy River that Gail will be spending most of her time in. Her brother Drew and his wife Kris will join her and Richard for a week when they are down there and she is really hoping nieces, Megan and Erica will be able to come for a few days. I hope ... read more

...when we had to head home. We drove from Sedona to Phoenix just a week ago but not before we finished seeing some of the sights in Sedona. Lucille Ball had a vacation home in Sedona, very high on a hill top just down the street from where we stayed in Sedona. Lucille is long gone but her daughter apparently still comes to Sedona on occasion and she has installed a mannequin of Lucille on one of the porches. So if you peak thru the trees, you can see her waving. Of course, we had to check out the Olde UFO Store where the lady who owns the store swears the Martian behind the glass was one of the originals from Roswell, New Mexico. The Roswell UFO Incident involves the recovery of materials near Roswell in ... read more

On Thursday we had a Relaxation Day. As you have probably figured out, our trip had to have built in Relaxation Days...and you know that last nerve Gail and Sue were sharing when they left the Sault, well you will all be happy to hear we found a few so we should be good for a week or so when we get back home. Our Relaxation Day started out at the Heartwalk Center where we met up with Sean and Joy again for massages...oh, the joy of having a massage. We had another aura picture done. Gail's aura after 10 days of Arizona showed that she was still full of vitality and creativity. There was some healing!! Now Sue's last aura picture was a little different from the first two. No one could tell me what ... read more

Yesterday was another day of exploration for Gail and Sue...we do want you to know that we did find something that we could both do and make a little money too if we decide to winter in Arizona. We first explored Montezuma Castle. It is one of a number of well-preserved ancient dwellings in north central Arizona. It is probably the most spectacular; an imposing 20 room, 5-storey structure built into a recess in a white limestone cliff about 70 feet above the ground. When first (re)discovered the ruins were thought to be Aztec in origin. The early explorers believed that Montezuma came up from Mexico to worship here but it seems he never traveled this far north. It is now known that the dwelling belonged to the Sinagua Indian peoples (Sine-gua = without water) who ... read more

So while the rest of the people here are looking for dinosaur bones, Gail has her own way of searching for history. We couldn't edit the previous blog to add them so here are some of her best finds. We are a few days behind and Gail now wants to tell you about our flotation therapy...we couldn't resist when it said one hour in the flotation tank was as good as 3 days of detox. Gail will tell you our story... We drove to the compound, and yes I do mean the word compound. The place was completely enclosed by a high wooden fence. Sue, gave me a look like I dont know about this, but I said oh come on I'm sure we will make it out. Just then a tall man came over to ... read more

Actually, we took a drive thru the Petrified Forest National Park on Monday, May 25th. Gail had been to this park back when she was just a little girl of 8 or 9 years old and was so impressed she decided Sue needed to see this place. The Petrified Forest National Park is along Interstate 40 just past Holbrook and as we drove thru Holbrook, we saw a really junky looking place offering petrified wood and souvenirs, so Sue read Gail's mind and pulled in. We met Ronnie, an old self described south-western hillbilly. He was a hoot and it was even better when we got some real silver jewelry for a reduced price...well, when Sue started to walk away from some $50 earrings, he was quick to tell her that she could have them for ... read more

It was really by chance that we came upon this place. We asked a lady in one of the 2 stores open on Memorial Day where we could get a good meal...she directed us to the La Posada, about a block down Route 66. La Posada Hotel, the “last great railroad hotel,” was built in 1929 for the Santa Fe Railway. If you ever come this way, you have to make sure to spend at least a day looking at this place. At least, plan a meal in the Blue Turquoise room. La Posada’s story weaves together two extraordinary visions. It begins with Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter, an architect of the 1930's, and Fred Harvey, who hired Colter to design the hotel. It embodied her vision, from its architecture down to its finely crafted details. La ... read more

We aren't actually in Winslow tonight but have to get caught up on sharing pictures....so here we go. In these pics you will see Gail and Sue standing on the corner. There are murals painted on the sides of the buildings that look almost life-like. There is very little that keeps the town going these days since Interstate 40 took over for the infamous Route 66. There were only 2 little souvenir shops opened on Memorial Day (besides Denny's) when we first arrived. The trains still travel thru Winslow several times every day as they cross east-west corridor of northern Arizona. Gail had been singing Take it Easy since we arrived in this part of the state...so of course, we had to buy an Eagles CD so we could listen to the whole song.... read more
