You are right again, they are frescoes. I guess I should have known that. Thanks for pointing out my mistake. I really appreciate that because now I can correct it and hopefully I also learn something. /Ake
Emma running a flat section near Arild This is just how I imagine Swedish countryside. Thanks for sharing this part of the world. Reminds me of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Many visitors To reach Arx and Nimis you have to walk for about 2 km some of it is rough terrain. Still maybe 10,000 people visit the site every year.
As a provokation this art installation was a great success. The authorities were forced to condemn the fact that Vilks has created it illegally in a nature reserve. The same people who as part of their job tried to stop him, if you asked them off the record, would admit that they loved it and didn't want it destroyed at all.

We have a palaces in Stockholm blog We made an entire blog entry with only pictures of palaces in and near Stockholm. 26 palaces in one blog entry. It should be the one we published in in August 2013 and it then has the identity number 623832.
I don't have the time right now to make the Palaces & Castles thread myself right now but feel free to do it for me.

Amsterdam Fascinating blog as usual Ake. Our daughter is heading off shortly to hopefully work at the Hague so thanks for the heads up on places to check out when we visit her.
Baarle-Hertog/Baarle-Nassau I am sure there are thousands of interesting places in Netherlands. a guidebook will tell you about them. A few years ago we went to Baarle-Hertog (Belgium) and Baarle-Nassau (Netherlands). You might want to look at our blogs from there (one from each place) because it is a totally unique place to visit. We published those in May 2015.
I liked Amsterdam as well I quite like the drugs and sex part of it though as I find it liberating that people are allowed to do as they please with their own bodies, especially since cannabis is far less dangerous than alcohol and tobacco it makes perfect sense for it to be legal. We are all different though. It's a shame I missed the body world, it looks pretty awesome! :)
You found it That village/those two villages (which is it? one village or two? I don't know...) is so fascinating. All we did was walking around trying to find all the oddities.
Before they had the Euro as a common currency they strictly used Guilder in the Dutch areas and strictly Franc in the Belgian areas. Not like in other border areas where often both currencies are widely accepted.

We are Emma Holmbro and Ake Dahllof. We live in Stockholm, Sweden.
We have travelled more or less regularly since the mid 1990-ies and it seems like the more we travel the more difficult it is to decide where to go next. Not because we are running out of places to visit but because we find more places we want to go to faster than we manage to travel to them.
Some of the things from our travel bucket list we have ticked off since we started this blog in 2006 are
