Beautiful Memories Peter you should know wherever you are in the world you are always top of mind when it comes to your classmates at USC. This past Thursday 28 of us got together for drinks and dinner and great conversation. We all shared how our lives have changed since we graduated. Your adventures came up and Chuck Dapoz sent me a link to your blog. I wish you and Dinh blessings and peace on your global adventure. Fight on!
waiting for the memoirs haven't read your blog in a while. maybe since peru. anyways. always reading about your adventures and world travels with smiles, laughs, and mouth agape. beautiful photographs (the ones you still have!). will buy your memoirs when you publish them, which is a must at this point! young couple quits jobs, travels the world for seven months. jealous but not jealous at the same time. amazing and amusing tales! maybe a miniseries? comedy series? something!
hate u both i'm in seattle for a conference and reading your blog and looking at the pics MAKES ME JEALOUS!
SIGH! i'm glad you're having fun while the rest of us slave in the real world :(
can't wait for the next entry!
Padrig H. Is Padrig Harrington a relative? No doubt there was a lot of celebration around Padrig's win of the British Open and I'm sure the Harrington clan downed a few pints. Congratulations, Ireland.
Peter and Dinh, Enjoy Brazil... Dave
WOW! You guys are so lucky, Peter! I hope to travel like you guys someday. In the meantime, I'm stuck in New York City (not a bad place to be stuck in), doing the MBA program.....taking classes during the summer! I guess it could be worse! hahaha
Was it a trick? I was thinking your disgusting experience maybe it was the result of some kind of university joke. That's no so common this kind of "stole methodology" between chilean criminals in Chile. Or maybe it was a real mistake of this person. Did he run out of there? If he stayed in front you , probably it a was a real mistake, not a trick. In Chile, a typical criminal would proceed to a getaway if you discover his intentions. Well, it just an hypothesis.
Distant Relative Greetings from Massachusetts... The entire East coast family enjoys reading your blog. Your comments on Dinh's taxi rides, Peter's boobies and this latest outrage are letting us see the real people. Keep Bloging and Enjoy the rest of your travels. HAPPY 4TH of JULY!!
Dave
Totally awesome Dinh You're awesome (despite taxi)!! Now that you've summoned up whatever it was that got you thru, keep it going. Don't lose it. You'll be able to enjoy more of beautiful earth...before doom and gloom (I finally saw An Inconvenient Truth). You and Peter should be on Amazing Race. Seriously.
Making it harder than it needs to be. When Ben and I went to Peru, we just flew to Lima then Cuzco. Acclimated to the altitude for a day or so then took the bus to train to bus up to Machu Pichu. It was damp and cold out and in the bus but luxorious by comparison to your "adventure". As we passed those on the trail, we knew we had made the right choice in taking the train! Peter, you probably won't live long enough to live this down. BTW we didn't eat any cuye either!
Genetics Wow... everything sounds great! But as your little brother, I do have to say that I now know that you've left any and all athletic genes to me and I thank you for that... wuss.
some clarifications... peruvian "a little uphill" is dinh's 45-90 degree incline which is most likely just a 15-20 degree grade. peruvian "flat" is dinh's tour de france hill stage which was probably a 10 degree grade.
i am proud of your achievement of not dying... and also by your miraculous scoring of a taxi out in the middle of nowhere. only dinh.
Dinh, your entry was so funny. Your images are so vivid I felt I took part in your painful hikes. BTW, I am really impressed with all the hiking you and Peter have done. I bet you're super buff. The pictures are cool. Now I can see some of the things you describe and can travel vicariously through you and Peter. The multiple mentions of guinea pigs as the national delicacy made me curious: are you guys going to try some?
Galapagos So I take it you enjoyed the Galapagos Islands? I saw them on the new High Def Planet Earth series. It looks amazing. I hope to get there someday. Glad to have you reporting on all your worlds travels. It is amazing to read your journal while you are on this amazing world wide tour. Incredible. c
Electronics First the Treo, now the camera?! We can't believe it! We were looking forward to the camper pictures, and of course the beauties of the AU and NZ. AIYA!! I'm sure Peter was giddy shopping for a new camera.
Just have to let you know Dinh that you are really part of the Harrrington family, more than ever now - the tradition of leaving personal affairs during their various trips is being kept alive. Passports and various articles (planned presents for example) left on planes, mobile phone mislaid (Martina's a real expert !) and the list could continue. We like being charitable, so many people have benefited from our moments of absence!!!! Vincent and I will be off to Ireland next Thursday for a little weekend - we'll see if we lose or forget somthing. Greeting to all the Ha family joing you in Vietnam and good luck Peter for the future efforts of not disappointing your family-in-law in their home country. Be on your best behaviour and enjoy yourself.
Take care. Big sister !
you survived! OMG! The Great Barrier Reef! Sounds like it was damn exciting and memorable. Isn't it crazy how casual they are about safety out there? I heard about people nearly left behind by their boats. Well, bekpekkas, glad to hear you're safe and sound. Watch out, Vietnam, here they come!

Sewer Hose Peter, you should have talked to me more about basic RV maintenance instead of gambling or drinking beer in Las Vegas. Empty the black tank first then dump the grey. Follow this by hosing it down. Call me if yu have questions on electrical systems. I can tell you how to get taken for $1000 US with a bad inverter unit.
All my Best,
Charles
Envious Not saying I was bitter or anything but I have finally just today read all of your posted blogs. Your trip comments are inspiring.
Although I'm scared now about my passport renewal getting here in time for our May 7 departure! Apparently there is a run on US passports - makes you wonder who these people are who didn't have a passport before!
I agree with your friend - wondering why I am not writing my own blogs from somewhere exotic instead of sitting in my ofice working. Love to both of you.
"I'm going to take a holiday for as long as I need."
"Just to play?"
"No! I want to find out why I'm working. The answer can't just be to pay bills or to pile up more money...I can't find out sitting behind some desk in an office. So, as soon as I get enough money together, I'm going to knock off for a while. Come back and work when I know what I'm working for. Does that make sense?"
