Hello my fellow travellers! This day went off quite well I'd say even though it got a bit chaotic when I reached Kuala Lumpur but I'll get to that later. I started early today, going up together with Bruce and Cindy as she went to work. I went with them to where she meets her co-workers for a car-pool across the causeway to Singapore, it's incidentally also the spot where the buses collect their passengers. Bruce went with me to the different vendors and we found a good ticket to Malacca. There aren't joined vendors here but every company have their own small office but the prices don't differ much between them. The bus was right on time and two hours later I stepped off in a very sunny and warm Malacca. The bus terminal here ... read more

Hello my fellow travellers! After a good (and long) nights rest me and Bruce kicked off our day with a brunch at a local Chinese restaurant. The food was amazing and they just kept it coming, tray after tray with deliciousness. I thought I was going to explode after a while, but it set me up for a good day of traversing Johor Bahru. Now, to be honest there isn't all that much to see here, it's mostly an industrial town these days even though it is an old Sultanate. The Sultan still holds immense power here and I've heard that their palaces (yes, plural) are wonderful. They are unfortunately not open to the public. There are a few things here though worth checking out, our first stop was not one of those places though, it ... read more

Hello my fellow travellers! Well, this has been a pretty calm day I'd say. After a good breakfast with Dani and Marten and their Labrador we set out for a tour around Batam, we started with the Grand Mosque which Marten jokingly called the UFO and he's right because it kind of looks like one. But I like it, it's a cool and modern take on a mosque and worth checking out. After that we went to this lovely seafood restaurant I mentioned yesterday, I don't know the name of it but I can see why it's so popular. Everything is completely fresh, brought out from the sea as you order it and boy does that quality show! Everything is cooked with genuine care and we ordered so much food, a real royal feast! I was ... read more

Hello my fellow travellers! So, after I woke up today I began by drinking a cup of Teh Tarik which was recommended to me by a friend from China, it is her favourite drink when she is in Singapore. It's basically tea with powdered milk and I found it quite nice but I still prefer just regular plain tea. While I drank my tea I had a good talk with one of my hosts, Jennifer, which was quite good because I had gotten this reserved sense from her like we're not quite getting along and I couldn't quite figure out why but our talk straightened my question marks and I won't go into more detail. When I was ready I took to the streets of Chinatown, it it a very nice place to walk around in, ... read more

Hello my fellow travellers! Today has been a most interesting day, one thing that I've reflected upon today is the aura of coexistence that surround this city. While walking around in this city I find that it's not uncommon to locate, within a stones-throw of each other, Hindu temples, Islamic mosques, Christian churches, Buddhist temples and Taoist temples. While talking about faith, religion and the world today with the Imam of one of the mosques he told me that all religious differences here are settled through a religious council with prominent members of all faiths attending and that it is written into law that you will not ridicule any religions and that all faiths are to be respected in Singapore. In light of recent events in Europe this might be something for us to take to ... read more

Hello my fellow travellers! This morning I said goodbye to Jody, I'm sad we didn't get to spend more time together but that is how it is sometimes. He is more than welcome to come and stay with me in Sweden and I think he might very well do so next year which would be great! Anyway, the flight to Singapore went without incident and I landed in a far warmer and sunnier Singapore than the Hong Kong I left behind. Not only that but the girls here are all very beautiful, it makes me wonder if someone up above is trying to give me a heart-attack, hitting me with this combination of heat and beauty! My host in Singapore, Kuni, had left me good and detailed instructions on how to reach him and just as ... read more

Hello my fellow travellers! Today has been a good day filled to the brim with Chinese heritage sites. I begun the day with visit to the Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery (fair warning, it's not actually a monastery since there are no monks living here, the temple is run by laymen). It's a sweaty hike up a steep hill to reach the monastery and the path there is lined with golden statues. I must admit that some of the statues here are really creepy and not in the good creepy awe-inspiring way but in a just plain creepy way. Regardless it's a nice place to visit and definitely worth you time. After the visit to the monastery I made my way to the Che Kung Temple which is absolutely amazing, it is a Ming Dynasty temple dedicated ... read more

Hello my fellow travellers! After a good nights sleep I feel like I've settled into the new time-zone quite well. That actually went quicker than I had expected. I started this day with a brisk walk to the Central Station where I took the MTR to Tung Chung, this is where you take the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car up to the Po Lin Monastery and the Tian Tan Buddha. The ride is cool and steep but so is the price, it costs 165 HKD for a return trip and 115 for a single trip, and that's for the standard cabin, you can also go in a crystal cabin which features a glass bottom. I don't remember the single fair for that one but I think the return fair was 255 HKD. You can also choose ... read more

Hello my fellow travellers! After a long flight from Copenhagen to Istanbul to Hong Kong I've finally arrived in this wonderful city and I love it already! It's a bustling metropolis and it's night-sky is lit up by tonnes of lights. It is such an amazing place and I look forward to seeing more of it. So far today I haven't really done much since I arrived fairly late and was delayed first from Copenhagen and then again from Istanbul due to snow. The flights has still been good though, Turkish Airlines are a really nice company, they served food even on the short flight of less than three hours and every seat has a great entertainment centre with a truck-load of good movies. They also handed out slippers and a good sleepers kit. Thumbs up! ... read more

Hello my fellow travellers! So, our time in Malta has come to an end and it's time to sum up this experience. First off I can say that I really like Malta, it has a lot of similarities with Cyprus which I also really enjoyed. Still, Malta has quite some nice things to offer which I haven't seen elsewhere, such as the impressive Megalithic Temples. Some of the oldest structures in the world can be found here and the whole island pulsates with history! The locals are friendly and easy to approach and English is, as expected, a prevalent language so communication is easy. We spoke to several locals during our trip and they were all very eager to help us out and talk about their culture and religion in a good and calm manner which ... read more
