Mountain Serenity
What beautiful pictures! Although I'm sure the rain wasn't great to contend with on the day, the weather really appears to have added to the greenness, tranquility and spirituality of the place as captured in your pictures. I'm sure the beer and noodles were a wonderfully warm and comfort-filled way to end the day!

Ichi-go ichi-e
I love this Japanese expression, thank you for sharing it here. It seems like you encounter many of these on your travels. The photos reflect the text's message that you seemed to be really in your element here, taking a full part in Japanese history, culture and religion. Lovely to read :)

Ichi-go ichi-e
Thank you my friend. I love that expression as well and it seems like such an integral part of Japanese society and culture and is a big part of why I really love it, every moment there seem to carry something precious with it. :)

Kagami Pond

My fav photo
I pick this as my favorite of the photos you have in this blog entry. Nice composed with fog, autumn colours and the small structure in the foreground. /Ake

Enjoying the View of the Tenshu (Main Keep)

Nice photo
The Japanese castles are excellent. When we were in Japan we planned to see Himeji Castle. When we came there it was all covered in scaffolding and tarps. They were renovating it and we saw nothing... /Ake

Nice photo
Thank you! ^_^ I know the feeling, when I was in Himeji parts of it was also under scaffolding but enough was open to enjoy it, I'm happy that there was no such distractions in Matsumoto. ^_^

Very, very cool
Some people just check off "must see" sites when they travel, but you take the time to really engage with people. And isn't that what travelling is all about? I really like the pictures of you with the Matsumoto Castle Hospitality Group; maybe you have found a new career.

Very, very cool
Thank you! I am very happy that you like them. I had a really amazing time together with them and I look forward to meeting them all again! It would be really cool to work with them, perhaps I could take om the role of William Adams, the first westerner to become a Samurai, it was after all in the same time period under the rule of Tokugawa. :)

Getting Ready For Battle

Context
This is such a cute pic, and less 'hmmm' than the one before it (without the context of the hakama tying) :) Do you know what the text on your facebook photo says?

Getting Ready For Battle

Context
Haha, I know. I just couldn't putting them both up because I thought the first one looked so hilarious and we were all laughing so hard when we did this. The text on the top of picture says Rasuto Samurai, Last Samurai, the text on the bottom are there character names, on the left Matsudaira Naomasa and on the right Ogasawara Hidemasa. :-)

Rasuto Samurai
A fascinating insight into where your heart and soul is Per-Olof. You may have been a tourist dressed with a hospitality group for photos for touristos but I discern it meant more to you than that. Gret blog.

Rasuto Samurai
It really did mean more to me my dancing friend, it created one of those rare moments of perfection that will always live not only in your memory but also in your heart. :-)

Cultural Village and Onigiri
Sounds like a lovely travel day. I like the idea of visiting a traditional cultural village, it must have been a real insight into the Japan past. I too like taking some good food with me for a train journey, so I will look out for Onigiri on my visit there next year :)

Cultural Village and Onigiri
I can really recommend a visit there, it was a very nice place with good insights into Edo Period village life. Onigiri is life, you can find them at most stations and convenience stores, costing between 100 and 200 JPY, no train ride is complete without them! :D

Wow, looks like you had a really amazing time! I love the attention to detail in your blog entries, just reading it almost feels like being there!

Thanks man! I'm happy that you enjoy them, I always enjoy your comments. I look forward to reading about your own experiences in Japan soon. :-)

Serene
It looks so serene Per-Olof. I feel the serenity in your pics...the journey in your words. But I keep coming back to serene...I keep feeling you must be experiencing that.

Serene
I really do feel serene when I'm there. Sure, I might move around a lot still, but I don't feel the stress I once did. :-)

Chado
There used to be a Japanese teahouse here and I witnessed a few tea ceremonies, but it would be so amazing to learn the intricacies involved in it. What a totally cultural immersive day this was... and that hakama were clearly meant to be yours :)

Chado
I feel blessed by Inari to find those Hakama, as you say it was meant to be. :-D And I already got some use out of them also, that will come in the next post. ;-D I wish I had a tea house close to me as well, I would love to really learn the ceremony in detail so I wouldn't be such a bumbling oaf while I'm there, but the chado is something that people study for years to get right. The attention to detail is something that repeatedly amazes me here.
