Poland adventures
I know nothing about Gdansk, so I'm looking forward to reading about your experiences there. How lucky are you? I can't believe that you can fly to another country for €20! The equivalent dollar amount would probably just cover a bus ticket to the other side of Tasmania :)

20 euros 45 minutes
I'm surprised you bothered to fly Per-Olof. In Oz such short distances you'd consider to walk! Only kidding. Enjoy Poland. I hear it is grand.

Great to see you travelling again my friend. And what an amazing flight deal you got for just €20!! Looking forward to reading more about your trip to Poland - one of my favourite countries, been there many times myself, such wonderful and warm people. Enjoy :)

Poland
Thank you ^_^ I agree about Poland, it's a wonderful country and I expect I'll return there more times in the future as I've enjoyed both my visits there. ^_^

Great Journey!
Thank you for a wonderful insight into your amazing travels around Japan, and Qatar. Your attention to detail is palpable, and I've really learned lots about the culture, history and religion of Japan. You certainly pack lots into your travelling! Thank you for giving me a taster for my planned trip next year to Japan. And exciting to read that you've already planned your next trip to Gdansk! I look forward to reading about it :)

Great Journey!
Thank you my friend! I had a really great time on this trip and I hope that it will give your inspiration for your own upcoming trip. Hopefully I'll be able to write about my first trip to Japan as well before you go. :)

Sanada Yukimura
Thank you for the story of this greatest samurai Per-Olof. Sounds like a rather full-on way to end your Japanese foray. Until next time did you say?

Thank you yourself my dancing friend, I'm really happy that you liked it. :) I did have a full day to end my time in Japan this time. Next time I go back to Japan I'm planning to walk the pilgrimage Kumano Kodo.

What a great trip!!!
Thank you! I had a really good time as always. Poland is really nice, I was there a few years ago as well and I had a great time this time also, I will probably start posting up from the Poland trip this weekend. :)

Endings and beginnings
Thanks for taking us along on your adventures around Japan, and a special thanks for the rich cultural details you shared. Being awake for 40 hours is brutal, and I think you'll have to elaborate on 'I somehow managed to end this trip by booking a flight to Gdansk in Poland next month'! :) I look forward to your adventures in Poland in the heart of winter :)

Endings and beginnings
Thank you! I'm really happy that you've enjoyed reading about the trip. I had been thinking about going to Gdansk for a while because I've heard it's really beautiful and Ryanair fly there from my local airport and I found a return flight for 20 euro so I didn't think twice but just booked it and when I woke up in the morning after I found the confirmation in the mail. :-P

A Most Amazing Man!
Wow, I loved your meeting of "The Most Amazing Man". Well done also on braving the rain, and seemingly enjoying another wonderful day in Japan. Loved the snow monkey pictures. Looking forward very much to experiencing an onsen myself, sounds very relaxing and rejuvenating :) Sorry to read that your journey's almost coming to an end... No doubt you've got even more travel action planned for the last day though :)

A Most Amazing Man!
Thank you my friend! I will treasure meeting that man and think back on our brief moment with affection. Going to an onsen is like discovering something that's essential to life that you didn't know you were missing until you found it, much like the Japanese toilets. ^_^

Snow monkeys!
Forests, happy wildlife, temples, onsens, sake and ramen - what a day! The experience with the monkeys in the onsen sounds super amazing. I really want to experience this too... and it's so beautiful to hear that the macaques don't react to the humans (I love that they don't allow feeding). I'm impressed with the unlimited sake tasting, but I can see how that could be my undoing - sake has a habit of sneaking up on me :)

Snow monkeys!
They were really marvellous to see, they are so beautiful. I also like that they don't allow feeding, I've seen how that can spiral out of control in both India and Malaysia with the macaques turning almost a bit ferocious in the pursuit of food from strangers but here they were really nice and calm. The sake could easily have undone me as well if I'd been given more time there. ^_^

Alpha Male Soaking in the Onsen

That's so cool
Oh, you got to see the monkeys that have their own spa. I have seen photos of those before and I'd love to go there myself. I am a bit envious now... Well, good for you! /Ake

Thank you, yeah I've been wanting to see them as well for a while so it was great to finally do so. ^_^

Snow monkeys
Snow monkeys gotta be on everyone's wish list Per-Olof. Mine is with them in hot springs in the snow...probably why I'll never achieve it. But where there is a will there is a way I often say...so you never really know, do you?

Snow monkeys
I would love to see them in winter as well and I most likely will some day as I have decided to return to Japan once a year from now on and I'm giving serious consideration into moving there in about 10 years from now if some of my other life plans work out properly. ^_^

Rainy day blues
I can totally understand that rain isn't welcome when you want to explore, but on the bright side (excuse the pun), it created a beautiful atmosphere for the autumn colours in your photos. I love the tale about Amaterasu and Susanoo, and my imagination was captured by how 'a lewd' dance would have been portrayed in ancient times! :)

Rainy day blues
Haha, aye there's always positives to everything. ^_^ I don't think I would have minded the rain so much if it hadn't been for my broken shoes leaking so much, wet and cold feet it a dampener on the spirit. ^_^

Togakushi
I am impressed at the detail in this blog Per-Olof. The antics of the gods in Shinto lore of the Ama no Iwato makes great reading, I wonder how the ancients recorded such legends and passed them down. In Australia the aboriginal Dreamtime is oral lore, passed down orally to succeeding generations for millenia. May your further travels continue to bring you the spiritual peace you are looking for.

Togakushi
Thank you my dancing friend! Much of the Shinto lore is written in the Kojiki, which translated means "record of ancient matters" which was written in 711-712 and the Nihon Shoki, "the Chronicles of Japan" from 720. :-)
