Wake up to rain and pop outside to make sure it is going into our water butts.
Pad
comes to say that he is going out to the farm but we plan to go and
collect some more palm trees to fill in the spaces where the old shelter
and trackway used to be.
Bike towards Phon Thong and wander around
checking out the selection of trees whilst we await the arrival of the
chap who sells them. Some of them are enormous but I guess that
disturbing the roots of the bigger ones probably wouldnt be such a good
idea so we opt for some medium sized ones instead. He is keen to get
rid of the trees he still has and doesnt intend to sell anymore so gives
us a good price and tries to get us to take some more. If we had the
room to plant them I would have had some but ... We end up with 7 trees
and a complimentary sack of pig manure. We bike on back to the house
and the trees arrive in the back of a pick-up about half hour later. We
unload them into the front garden and the plan is for Pad to help us
take them out to the farm tomorrow in his dak-dak.
One of our water
butts is leaking and Jai decides that with it being nearly empty it
would be a good opportunity to clean it out. She climbs inside and
disappears from view. Obviously not claustrophobic ! Whilst inside we
mix up some concrete and plug the hole whilst I screw in a plastic plug
to the tap point on the outside. Leave it a day to harden off and
hopefully job done and we can fill it with rainwater.
Sit down with a coffee after what seems like along morning and discover it is still only 9:45 !
Jai starts dying her mat grass and I get a book out.
Lucky that we got out jobs done this morning as by lunchtime the rain has returned.
Afternoon
I watch a 1930s Sherlock Holmes and the Case of The Cunningham Legacy.
Although a very basic film it was watchable, especially when compared
to the alternatives on Thai TV !
The rain continues all afternoon and byt the time I go to bed it still hasnt stopped.
