hi ya'll , still down here in Southern Thailand ... weather still really warm , so warm in fact that i spend most of my time dipping in and out of the crystal clear turquoise tinged water , just to cool off!!.So you realise that life isn't always easy here .... Jack, Dangerman and the Cosmic Ambassador went on a "visa run" You must do this every month unless you have previously arranged your visa with the consul , if you don't extend the visa you get fined when you leave Thailand which would be a pain in the bum .....!!! Way back when i started this Blog , i had F.E.F.S and The Wee Bastards thing going , They've kinda lapsed, not because i got fed up but because The Fat Boys seem to ... read more

Decided to back track on ourselves, and go see what Kuala Lumpur had to offer. This meant taking 2 overnight trains. So, we organised a bus that would pick us up. To take us across the ferry and then on to Surat Thani railway station. There, we would have to wait for over 8 hours before catching our first overnight train to Butterworth. At Butterworth we would have a 10 hour wait, till we picked up our next overnight train to Kuala Lumpur. We had it in our minds that we would spend the waiting periods at Surat Thani and Butterworth checking out the areas. All went well, we arrived at Surat Thani Station which is on the outskirts of the city, checked in our backpacks at left luggage and went in search of food. ... read more

Its been a long time since we did a blog, so we've got a bit of catching up to do! After a 7 hour bus journey from Bangkok to Chumphon we got an early morning boat to the scuba diving Mecca, Ko Tao. Our reason for going there was to do the 4 day PADI Open Water Dive Course, which qualifies you to dive to a depth 18 metres anywhere around the world. We did our course with Crystal Dive Resort and they were really great, all the people were nice and we had a cool group of people to dive with. The first couple of days of the course was mainly classroom stuff, of which there was actually quite a lot to learn, and then a final exam! On the 2nd day we also had ... read more

Well I’m sat on the bus writing this (obviously typed onto blog since). This has got to be the longest bus journey ever. It’s currently 12.45am and the bus set off around 7.30pm and I don’t think we are even half way yet! Got on the bus and thought I’ll just chill and listen to some music, but no ipod is flat, it must’ve been switched on in my bag, as I only charged this morning…That will teach me to lock it in future. Then thought ok I’ll read my book, but no the light above me doesn’t work. Thank god for my maglite, although there is only so long you can read like that without getting a headache. Then there is the guy sat next to me. Only a small guy, but seems to think ... read more

Well we're near the gate to Khao Sok National Park. It's the first time in a few days that we have seen anything resembling technology except boat motors and generators. We've been on a lake near the park, living on rafthouses. Pretty secluded area, except all the noisy tourists. I think the last time I entered a blog we were leaving Chiang Mai. Since then we've taken two overnight trains in a row, been on a canal tour, walked around the grand palace and spent the couple of days at the rafthouses. We have also met up w our new group. There are now 7 of us in total, 4 aussies, one kiwi and ourselves. This new group is way quieter than the rowdy first one. Kind of sets the tone for this part of the ... read more

We definitely could have used some Sister Mary Clarence on this last experience. I apologize for the length of this entry but I really want to be able to remember every detail. It may be a good idea to read it in a couple chunks. The first thing April, Celia and I decided to do upon arriving in Thailand was a silent retreat at a Buddhist monestary called Suan Mohkk. We were having a horrible time when we first arrived because the locals were mean, unhelpful and didn't speak a word of English. So even though we knew very little about the retreat, it was easy to make a last minute decision to go to a monastery where everyone has to be nice! The retreat was 10 days long, we only expected to last 3 or ... read more

One month. It has been one month since our embarkation from the US of A. What a crazy month. It's weird to reflect on it. This last week has been tough for me... and consequently probably tough for Dallas as well. Let's just say I probably wasn't the best traveling companion. And let's be honest, it will probably (guaranteed) happen again...in approximately 26 days...if you catch what I'm throwing. Yeah, I was an emotional, girly, grumpy mess. I cried three times yesterday! Once in the morning because I was sad about an email. Once later that day because I watched Forest Gump and Jenny died. Once again that night when I was checking email again from Jen Turner and Mom and Dad. In the same 10 minutes in a tiny little internet room I cried and ... read more

Hi All, Sorry for the long interval since my last update. If the internet is a superhighway, I'm on a potholed dirt road right now, and so this entry will be pictureless and brief. After leaving Istanbul and touring around Turkey for two weeks, I decided that it was the wrong season to see turkey, and, so, packed my bags and set a course for... Thailand! I arrived about 6 days ago. I'm now in Ko Pha Ngan, a small, somewhat remote island in the Gulf of Thailand. I've been scuba diving and doing my best to sit still on the beach, something I'm not too good at. I'll probably indulge in a little more scuba, some rock climbing, then head north for a second pass through Bangkok (which I loved) and then to see the ... read more
