After we all braved the 'hole in the ground' toilet, we left for more walking. We walked a little way up the road and saw a little village with a school and shop. I thought we were in the middle of nowhere but this was civilisation! We walked about 2 hours of so to a little village for our lunch. We all helped the woman preparing rice to make us seem useful. We played cards outside the church whilst Woody slept off his hangover! Apparently all the people in the mountains are either Christain or Catholic, very few are Buddhist. Again it was fantastic views from the top of the village. We walked some more for another few hours to another waterfall and our campsite for the second night. We all jumped from the top of ... read more

A Walk In The Park.. Day one began with a four hour journey to the Phu Toei National Park. We set up our tents, had diner and settled in for the night. Day two we packed up our tents and were driven an hour further into the park. We began our journey with a walk through the forest to a waterfall. Here we had a refreshing swim and our wash for the day which was blissful. We then ate our bag of rice for lunch and walked on. The rest of the afternoons trekking was lovely, walking through woodland and over streams and logs, stopping to pick mushrooms on the way. The last half hour was a little tough as it was up hill but worth the climb to get to base camp. This idyllic ... read more

so heres what i've been up to since last monday after leaving the golf resort in the we had about a 2 1/2 hour journey to phu toei national park. it was a mountainous area with various campsites spread out over kilometres. the first place we camped at was by far the worse. it was bug capital of the world, 5 different types of ant, the odd spider, and some friendly mosquitos made it an uncomfortable nights sleep for some. Me and ben were ok because we set up our tent properly in a non ant zone, but pretty much everyone else got infested with the blighters, there was a lot of kerfuffle at about 4am when people had ants on them and stuff, so there was a lot of tired legs the next morning. funny ... read more

The Resort We left Brown House thus, never to return again and headed off to a resort in the middle of nowhere to relax for one night before the group was split up to go its seperate ways. We arrive at this beautiful golf resort (though about 10x smaller than western golf resorts), checked into beautiful air-conditioned rooms with televisions and big beds and got ourselves all prepared to enjoy some afternoon activities! Charlee and I decided to head straight down to the pool however, we got slightly distracted by the mini spa so we decided to have an hour-long thai massage instead, which was so good. Unlike western massages, it is like a full body work out as you are constantly being stretched into all sorts of strange positions!! It was then time to go ... read more

This week 8 of us went off to do 'trekking' for the week, I use this term as lightly as possible as in the end we only actually walked anywhere for 2 days of the week. On Monday we spent most of the day travelling to Suphanburi to the Phutoei National park 'base camp' where we set up our tents for the first night. We met some of the national park staff including Joe who was to be our guide for the next few days. That evening we sat round with the staff who gave us some of their whiskey and the boys in our group played guitar while the rest of us sang (attempted to sing). Tuesday was our first day of 'trekking' we left in a truck to take us to the beginning of ... read more
